Hiryuu Ideal World {Session 1}

WELCOME TO IDEAL WORLDS: ANCIENT PSEUDO-KOREAN DRAGON GODS EDITION.

Your character's primary goal will be to convince Hiryuu to leave her ideal world. This is ICly known.

For the bulk of your character's journey (perhaps, even, the entire journey, depending on what they do along the way) your character will not have access to their unit's powerset. Please see the START for more IC information. Depending on how you go about your quest you may or may not encounter dangers or traumas.

Any items that your character had on their person before entering the game will remain with them for the duration of the game! However, all technological items will cease functioning before they leave the start area. Please see the START for more IC information.

In order to provide some guidance, key components / places are bolded, but just because something isn't in bold doesn't mean you can't interact with it. Go wild!

Your channel and ping for the duration of this game are both #/@dragonworld; please join your runner in the chan by typing .iam dragonworld in the roles-assignment channel. You find yourself standing in an empty grass plain. The sky overhead is a peerless blue; the sun beaming down is pleasantly warm and the air smells fresh and wild--like the grass growing underfoot and the nearby pine trees. There’s a wooden sign post next to you and three dirt roads leading north, east, and west. To the North there appears to be a large complex—perhaps a castle? Or just a great city with fortifications? To the East, there is a large, dense looking forest. And to the West there appears to be a village off in the distance.

Notably, you will find that you, yourself, are wearing some very different clothes—albeit in your unit/personal colors. You’ll find all of your technological gizmos and gadgets are, strangely, useless here: although your phone very briefly displays the game's rules (which simply instruct you that you must get Hiryuu, the occupant of this space, to agree to leave before time runs out) it will quickly power down and will not restart again...

Heading up the north path, you find yourself at the main gates of the main thoroughfare of a bustling capital city. Just as it seemed, there’s a large castle further north, standing at the heart of the city—but to get there you’ll need to at least pass through. Luckily, although the gates are massive, they’re open and appear to be unmanned—no one is trying to stop you.

The streets here are paved with large, flat stones. The main thoroughfare functions as a market, lined on either side by stalls that are bustling with business, vendors selling all sorts of odds and ends—including food, which smells delicious. Entertainers show off their skills juggling, playing drums, and reenacting parts of famous plays. Further east and west there are restaurants, proper shops, and tile-roofed and thatched-roof homes.

Strangely, all of the people here are rather nondescript? You can’t remember any of their faces once you’re no longer looking at them. You can stop and enjoy the town or continue on your way to the castle.

At the top of the elevated plateau you finally find yourself inside the castle complex. Unlike the buildings far below, all of the wooden buildings here possess white walls and scarlet roofs. The courtyard is relatively empty, save for three young people working with a horse and a dog. There are two large sets of stairs straight ahead, wide and imposing, leading to the Outer Court and an imposing looking Throne Hall.

Of course, that’s only brushing the surface. Further exploration will reveal that there are pavilions surrounded by gardens (rock and natural) and miniature lakes, inner court complexes that appear to be designated for specific members of the royal family, including a Palace for the Crown Princess, the Princes' Palace and even a very large temple structure.

You take the path to the West. As you travel, the sky overhead changes from mid-afternoon to evening at a rate that should be considerably alarming. Before you reach the village gates proper, you come across numerous fields full of crops being cultivated. Even though it's getting darker and you're all alone--you feel safe. There's nothing to be afraid of here.

There is a sound on the horizon, distant booms and cracks, that becomes louder and more distinct the closer you get to the village proper. Bright, colorful lights start to speckle the sky. It seems like someone might be shooting off fireworks? There is now a layer of drums and flutes and other instruments filtering through the evening air, previously unrecognizable before.

This is different...

[The instructions are fleeting-- but clear enough. It's obvious after a moment of fiddling that his phone won't be any more use to him here. So he tucks it away and eyes the different directions.

In the end, he chooses to go North towards the castle-like complex in the distance.]

[ Then North you shall go! ]

[Lancelot does take some time to look around as he carefully navigates the crowds. It's lively and full of things to see and do. But without any sign of Hiryuu, he's going to look... but keep passing through on his way to the castle.

Here's hoping that it continues to be this easy if he actually needs to get inside that castle.]

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that "almost all" of the people in the town are nondescript. How hard is Lancelot looking, or is he mostly making a beeline up?

[He's stopping to take in most of the sights-- not lingering, but making sure he looks around to get to know his surroundings and the town; so if something sticks out, he'd likely notice it in his sweep.]

To reach the castle, you first pass through a number of gates functioning as way stations below and then must traverse many flights of stairs. Although the outposts below are stationed with trusted guards and loyal soldiers, they greet you without any weaponry or concern that you’re headed up.

So up and up you go, until you finally reach the palace complex proper. Here, at last, it seems there is a formidable outer gate you cannot so easily pass through, manned by guards wearing armor on either side.

[He nods politely at the guards as he passes. Although reaching the palace proper, he can tell this may not be nearly so easily. Even so, he will approach.

Lancelot doesn't know a great deal about what he's going into but-- he will try to fit in and act the part, politely approaching the guards.

HERE GOES NOTHING.]

Excuse me... I was hoping that I could arrange an audience with the royal family.

Just kidding. They’re just dummies: literally; the burlap sack dolls list underneath the weight of the cardboard armor they’re wearing and while Lancelot is in the middle of politely inquiring for a royal audience, on of their spears falls to the ground with a soft clunk.

However, the large red gates DO open, welcoming you into the castle.

[.......cool. You know what. He's fine with that.

Thanks gate.

Lancelot waits for the gates to open before stepping inside the castle proper.]

Head inside!

[It's quite a grand structure. He peers around-- before taking a few steps into the courtyard to take a closer look at what those three are up to for a moment.]

It looks like it's two young men (that you don't recognize) teaching a young woman to ride a horse. She looks like she might be a bit familiar...? But it's hard to tell from a distance.

[Huh. That hint of familiarity is enough to get him to come closer, at least enough to get a look at the young woman's face.]

[ Approaching, you can hear the young man with dark hair and blue eyes giving pointers on how to dismount and the other young man with dark blond hair and blue eyes complimenting the young woman's form. The dog is the first to notice you approaching, and gives a merry bark before romping over. The girl starts to wave at you from on top her horse. ]

Lancelot! You made it.

[ It’s… Hiryuu? She has the right purple eyes for her, anyway, but it’s hard to tell, seeing that her wavy hair isn't red but a dark brown, almost black, and the corruptions that have come to dominate her features are gone. Maybe even harder still since she’s dressed in fairly formal attire not at all like her usual HSS uniforms. ]

[He greets the dog with a smile, kneeling down to give it a pat on the head.

When she calls his name, he lifts his head, looking at her more closely. There are a few things he can guess-- this is her castle, which would likely make her the princess. Her clothing confirms as much. The two men with her are likely close to her in some way.

The missing corruptions are one thing, but the color of her hair surprises him a little bit; although he keeps it to himself. But she looks... happy.]

I hope I'm not late. [...] It's good to see you again.

Not at all, you're just in time!

[ She dismounts the horse, slipping easily off one side, and then comes running over eagerly. Her two companions remain where they are. ]

I’m so glad you could make it. Are you ready?

Careful--

[He waits for her, watching to make sure she doesn't trip in her hurry. He's not sure what he's in for but--]

Yes, of course.

[Wing it? Wing it.]

[ She grabs his hand and starts pulling him along, then. ]

Good! It's not a proper birthday party with all your friends right?

Haha... no, it wouldn't be.

[Oh no... her birthday... Lancelot smiles and lets her pull him along, curious to see where she'll take him.]

[ HER. BIRTHDAY!!

The Princess takes you to her private quarters—it’s a spacious room with two large circular windows affording a view of a private garden and the mountains in the distance. Silk tapestries hang in the corner by an elaborate painted room divide, and fine furniture made of wood with a cushioned top acts for seating. In addition to the two young men from the courtyard being present, there are two other people here dressed in very formal robes setting up a game, as well a servant waiting nearby. ]

We'll have the big, big party with everyone later, but... for now! Should we order some wine? What kind of food would you like prepared? We can get anything we want, don’t be afraid to ask. Come, sit!

[ She pats at an empty seat for you as the two men station themselves by the doorway. ]

[Some other familiar faces show up-- this world was filled with her important people from back home and from hell as well.]

We shouldn't ruin our appetite before the big party-- I'm sure they've worked very hard putting everything together.

[He takes a seat, taking everything in again. He can see why she'd want to stay here. It was peaceful and lively. In a lot of ways it really was a beautiful world.]

...Some wine might be nice though.
