Levity returns to the cave, unscathed. At least physically. But...there is also a feeling contradicts all that fear. It feels nice to be protected like this. To have someone just look after you. It feels warm and safe.

But as for Lily, you can try to fight, but you're just not strong enough. You're so, pathetically weak. The leader cuts you down, cutting right through your shoulder and down to your hip. At least you could save someone you care about. Even though you couldn't save yourself, you did something for Levity, and what greater gift could you give him than trading your life for his? Even though it hurts, and you feel so weak for dying like this, you feel happy, too. It makes you feel like you're worthwhile.

You wake up in the cave again, cradled in the spindly, steel arms of half a dozen hooded, faceless, wraith-like creatures. Or so they appear. There's no life in them, no more than a statue holding you upon its lap not unlike the Pietà.

It sloughs away into nothing the moment you stand.
