Tsukiakari's Ideal world

[ When you come to, you find yourself inside some sort of theater. There are no seats, but the stage in front of you is lit up. Though the background that’s been put there is most definitely fake, the light of the moon, the movement of the trees and the petals scattered in the wind seem incredibly real, so much so that it’s easy to question whether it truly is background or not.

You feel sleepy, still, but you’ve been slumbering for far too long and something inside you is telling you to get up. Go out. You have to wake up. There are tears running down your face, but you might be too distracted to notice them, because soon enough you hear music coming from somewhere.

For a moment, at the center of the stage you can see a shadowy figure dancing under the moonlight. As it fades away, unmistakable, you can hear Tsukiakari’s narrating voice. ]

"You were born with a face fairer than any other.
You were divinely created, but you were cast aside like worthless dross."

"You are a failure. Too fragile to be a tool or a human. But this is a story after all, and you’re the one who will choose the way it unfolds. Write it all from scratch or stick to the script - it's up to you after all."

[ Save for those who came with you, the theater is empty, and there aren’t seats in which to rest. The stage, too, is now empty, and though you can see maple leaves on the ground, where Tsukiakari appeared just earlier, there’s nothing else of notice. If you happen to pay closer attention to the stage, however, you'll notice that the background looks even more real up close than it did in the distance. ]

”Those people were counting on you, and so you sought the Shogun’s help, reaching out the only way you knew how, by contacting her lovely Shrine Maiden.

‘This Golden Feather is proof of your connection to the Shogun, and she will not abandon you. As for me, I shall do my best to send for help immediately…’

But though they promised their help, it never came. In the end, those you wanted to save could not be saved. Such is the fate that awaits all mortals.”

[ Taking this path leads you to a beautiful shrine, high up in the mountains, from which you can see the land of Inazuma in all its splendor. In front of you you can see the Sacred Sakura Tree, a fox-shaped Tree that you can tell holds some magical bullshit.

All around you there are buildings, people busy drawing their fortune and maidens taking care of their daily jobs. It’s a quiet place, but busy nonetheless.

To the south you can see Inazuma City, and though it’s going to be quite the walk, you’re confident you can reach the place from there with relative ease.

Not that it matters now, because as you take your first few steps in the shrine, you’re greeted by a Shrine Maiden ]

My, you sure took your time to get here. You’ve been sent by the Balladeer to look for his precious heart, haven’t you? Well, you won’t find any here. But if I were you I’d be careful about following his will. The tale he wants to write is a dark one indeed.

"You once acquired the heart that you always dreamed of, but it was but a mere prop for lies and deception."

"Now, you will finally obtain what belongs to you, and this false construct of a body can at last aspire to power over this world."

"Yet, this is all but a fleeting dream of glory. And it will all one day drift away amidst the sighs of a suffering earth..."

[ As you arrive to Inazuma City what once looked like a beautiful city shifts right in front of your eyes. Crumbling buildings, ruins, fire and ashes everywhere, and storm and lighting ever present. It’s certainly not a peaceful sight, and it probably isn’t helped by the occasional scream you can hear in the distance. Not only that, but you can tell there’s something in the air that’s making your negative emotion stronger, as if it’s feeding off of it. ]

"You don’t know how long you spent there, devoid of any self of sense. You don’t even really remember what happened, you just know you wanted it to end. After everything that happened, you ask yourself - was it worth it? Are you happy now? But it’s a pointless question. You know you’re never going to be happy."

As Tsukiakari’s voice fades, you hear anothers’ in your head. For those who know him, it’s unmistakably Emet-Selch’s.

“So whom do wish revenge against? The gods above? The archons? Or perhaps your maker? You aren't wishing to go back, are you?”

[ Though the palace may be mostly still standing, it’s certainly not in great conditions, and you can see parts of the walls and roof have collapsed. If you had any intention to go for the upper floors you won’t really find any way to do so. Then again, would you even be able to find anything of note?

The Throne Room itself seems to be a total mess, but in the distance, you see a body. It’s not moving, and the blood pooling from underneath it suggests it’s not really going to anytime soon. ]

”Though you were deemed a failure, she could not kill you. Whether it was pity or regret, she chose to seal you instead. And so you slept inside a beautiful mansion made just for you, hidden away from the whole world within the heart of a mountain.”

[ You find yourself within some sort of abandoned, wooden house. You can tell no one must have set food within this place in a long time - it’s clearly in disrepair, and there are no signs of life anywhere.

It’s dead quiet too, and every step you take makes the floor creak - you don’t think the flooring is terribly stable. You cannot find a way out, however, and the path from which you came seems to be completely gone now. If you wish to move forward, you have to explore this place.

A corridor extends from where you stand and, up ahead, you can see a larger room. The room itself leads to another up ahead, and, to your left, you can see a ladder leading you to the floor above - through a hole in it. ]

[ Outside of the Shakkei Pavillion you reach the outskirts of Tatarasuna. It’s night, but the sky is well lit by the stars, and in the distance you can see a fire and a number of people gathered around it. The mood seem to be overall jovial, and you can hear people laugh and generally having a good time. Once you get a little closer, you can see two people performing a sword dance together - one is Tsukiakari, and the other is what looks to be a young Shogunate officer. Surprisingly, Tsukiakari himself looks quite happy. ]

”You make a pinkie promise, you keep it all your life. You break a pinkie promise, I throw you on the ice. The cold will kill the pinkie that once betrayed your friend, the frost will freeze your tongue off so you never lie again.”

[ The scenery around you shift once again, from the boat you’ve just boarded to the inside of a giant ice palace. It’s cold, enough so that you feel like staying still will result in you quite literally freezing to death. It doesn’t help that you are definitely not wearing anything weather appropriate - but the good news is that the palace is full of masked underling that will likely do anything you ask because they clearly think you’re terrifying. Maybe you can ask them for their coats, or just to lead you to a change of clothes. ]

[ he makes a face as soon as he hears scaramouche. is this how it's going to be? childe shouldn't be the least bit surprised, but he'll 'play' along. he's not sticking around to talk with anybody though and will simply turn into a hydro ball and yeet himself through whatever available exit there is once he realizes he's got his canon abilities. ]

[ RUDE BOY! He's yeeted straight into the background, disappearing somewhere else. He'll hear a chuckle as he goes, though - unmistakably Scaramouche's voice ]

[Brushing the wetness from his eyes with the heel of his palms and standing up.]

Dramatic.

[Really, like all of BARiTONES.

He will wave at anyone else arriving but he's just going down the path towards the gates.]

[ IF THIS HYDRO BALL COULD GIVE YOU THE MIDDLE FINGER RIGHT NOW... ]

[ Zhongli claps respectfully at a performance well-done, bows his head, and then if there are no other performances ---

Approaches the stage to see if he can get a better look at the set. ]

[ pentium picks himself up off the ground and looks around. he'll comb the theater to see if there's anything he's missing, but ultimately he'll probably head for the the 'backdrop' too. ]

[ Just as he is about to apprach that path, he'll hear Scaramouche's voice in his head again

"Are you sure that's the pack you want to pick? Careful now, you should choose well."

[ Though the background looks incredibly real from this close, there's not much on the stage aside from that and the maple leaves on the ground. Looking up you'll be able to see the stage lights flickering, but they do seem to just draw your attention to - well. The center of the stage.

Maybe you can put on your own performance! ]

[ Just as he is about to apprach that path, he'll hear Scaramouche's voice in his head again

"Are you sure that's the pack you want to pick? Careful now, you should choose well." ]

[ as he approaches he puts on his nicest smile. ] I did not. [ a laugh though it sounds a bit strained at the end. ] No? Now that's just a real pain. [ a dramatic sigh as stares up at the tree. ] You wouldn't happen to know which way he went, did you? [ he looks aside casually, but he's going to use his elemental sight. ]

[ bitch, where you at. ]

[Well. He's just going to take a moment to boo, first of all. Then he'll actually go inspect the background. Which, like, he's seen this kind of thing before so he's trying to put a hand through it because that must be a gateway, right?]

[ pentium doesn't respond and instead keeps marching forward. guess we're going to find out if this is the best path or not. ]

[ she shakes her head ]

The Balladeer hasn't showed up here in centuries. Is it him you're looking for, and not his heart? What an exciting turn of events. But if you want to find him, don't you think you'll have to ask yourself where he is? You won't find the answer anywhere else.

[ He's more of a connoisseur than a performer himself. But hmmm---

Can he reach the prop of that moon hanging so elegantly in the sky? ]

I have no doubts you can make this place beautiful and a trap at the same time. While the finery is curious, that is not my goal though I doubt you would reveal yourself so soon.

That being said, is the moon an option?
