STORY

[ The townsfolk outside tell a story - they ask for salvation, to be protected from the coming storm. Only you and your compatriots can save them. An item of offense is what they need, and the story they tell reflects the refuge they seek - you need only fill in that which is left unspoken. ]

There was once an ordinary, {emotion1} girl. She worked hard at {memory/event1}, and tried her best to be {emotion2}. She was surrounded by friends, a loving family, and even had someone she liked.

One day, {memory/event2} happened. It all fell apart after that. Her friends betrayed her, her family abandoned her, and the person she liked wouldn't even look at her anymore. She thought if she worked harder, she could fix it all.

So she threw herself into her work. She wouldn't rest until everything was {emotion3} again. Until the world made sense again.

But in the end, that day never came. When she looked behind her, all she saw was {memory/event3}, and all she had to console her were the regrets of those who crossed her.

She wanted things to make sense. The only way to get a status quo is to not make it obvious you're asserting the status quo. Unassuming would do that. Or at least nothing highly individualistic.

Which would probably make it hard to maintain any of those relationships.

Usually the only way to deal with weather was to shield against it back home, though it takes some...serious creativity to make those effective offense.

...so, she's someone who wanted things to stay the same, and for things to go back to normal, even though it was never something she could maintain forever.

That's right. If you don't exist as a person, then you won't matter to people. But existing as a person makes it a lot harder to do things on the bigger stage. I don't know if there's a way to maintain both of those.
