POISON: LiliS

[ The room is plain, white walls and white ceiling, except for the steel-panel flooring. There are three metal stands rising out of openings in the floor, each of which carries a glass vial on top. One of them just holds water. Of the remaining two, one contains a dark red, opaque liquid with a creamy consistency; the next is a relaxing blue, with small brightly glittering star-like orbs drifting through it.

Both have fancy but identical cast iron stoppers moulded in the shape of a shark plugging them shut. The only difference is that the red vial's shark is painted white, and the blue vial's shark is painted black. ]

[ Yeah, don't mind him, he'll be reading the rules over like four times on his phone. Ugh. He hates war room games. ] [ Does not expect powers to be on, but he does his little Test Flex anyway, and is then surprised to be covered in pale mottled bark. ]

...Huh.

[ Gent examines the vials for a moment, lingering on the one that seems to contain the night sky. ]

Testing our ruthlessness, is it?

I'm not so good at these types of games.

I don't think I'd want to be good at this sort of thing.

[ It definitely changes his mental math a little. sIV can turn off any pain, pep can come back— ] [ And now pushing that thought out of his head with force, because it doesn't mean they don't still die. ]

Fair enough, really. I mean, we're not — fighting anybody, and you probably still get points for 'poisoning' pep even if they get back up.

I mean, maybe. Game doesn't end until someone successfully 'poisons another unit', so we can't all be saints today.

It feels almost more like a logic problem. We've got two doses of antidote, two doses of poison, two doses of... water.

Mmm... it's not like there's anything we can do directly from here. The only things that leave are the vials we send.

...well, if it was a game that wasn't about hurting someone, that'd be different.

I guess it would be good too if I had the kind of tactical genius that could get everyone out of here safely... But I'm pretty sure no once can really do that.

Sometimes logic flies out the window when it comes to mortality or self-sacrifice. [ OR SO HE MUST HAVE READ SOMETIME ]

Do you have a proposition? It seems a bit fortuitous that the unit we're allied with and Persicaria's partner are in the same place.
at_heart: (support :: really you are)

Yeah.

On the plus side, if we poison someone and then they poison us back? I think we both still win.

I doubt anyone could get out of this with cleverness. If it were possible, many of these games would end differently. It's no failing of yours.

[ Well, that sure was a lurching gut reaction, but he's going to be ignoring it as hard as he can. ]

BiT's definitely gonna keep their antidotes and send poison out to someone. ZRAEL, too, maybe. [ Sort of depends on whether Zari's playing and how persuasive she can be, he supposes. ] sIV and Heart would probably rather drink their own poisons, and pep... dunno, it's gonna depend who's in there today.

[ Rubs the back of his neck, thinking. ]

—Man, I hope Tsukky's not playing, I can't imagine he'll take sharing a room with Bad End well. But I think most of avante would...

[ Trails off, frowning. ]

If it was just Bad End, they'd do the same thing as BiT. Does it count as successfully poisoning a unit if they take their antidotes first? After?

Hey, complain all you want.

[ A wan smile for her, before he goes over to examine the vials. ]

...Wonder how the antidotes work, exactly. Do we still count as successfully poisoned if we take 'em after? Do the antidotes protect us if we take 'em first?

The best they can in these impossible circumstances, no doubt. There are no real winners here, whatever they declare at the end.

Mmmmm... Isn't an antidote something you're supposed to take afterwards? But... i guess if it stays in you, maybe it would protect you... that's probably part of the strategy-- right?

Re: DISCUSSION

Mmmn... that's why I hope they protect themselves.

But... the game doesn't end until someone gets poisoned, so... some people are probably going to take risks...

[ That sure is a lot of almost-rambling. He tries to imagine the stress of doing this when one has friends and maybe loved ones on many other units. ]

I don't think we'll know that unless we drink them. A prospect I'm sure we'd all rather avoid.

We could throw out our poison, give the antidote away.
at_heart: (wry :: is that a fact)

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] at_heart 2022-09-10 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Tapping his bottom lip, until abruptly he re-checks the rules, and... ]

Well, we can't hold onto them, so they must work proactively.

[ ...hrrrrrm. ]

It's so weird that there's no win condition for not being poisoned. I mean, it might be one of the hidden wins, they have those sometimes, but. Heh. Maybe they just really wanna encourage us to poison each other.
at_heart: surprised, but hearing you out (huh :: i'm listening)
