There’s a peeping and chattering overhead.

Fluttering down to greet you are a number of small and colorful creatures—almost like fanciful stuffed animals, except definitely fully alive and somehow capable of flight despite most of them not being winged. Cooing in a way that is unarguably adorable, they circle around your heads curiously before heading towards an arched doorway that has opened in the thick brambles, leading to a winding path beyond. They then chirrup at you insistently, waving their tiny stubby arms for you to follow.

Once you cross through, a gate closes behind you, and the voices of your fellow idols fade from your ears. It seems as if you’re on your own, now.

Here, the brambles that surround your path seem to hide the distant glitter of stars in their shadows, and some of the thorns have been replaced with colorful plastic.

It seems that the magic creatures are carrying some things for you: a collection of sixteen different flowers, a small lantern of blue flame, and a wreath woven from lotus flowers, blooming Star of Bethlehem, and stems of wild oats.

Ah, I've got vervain too. And Hiryuu-san and I both have hollyhock, there's at least some crossover here.

...At some point. You can only do it once, so we should decide when would be most helpful. It's more likely you'll be hit once more flowers have been eliminated, but of course that's a risk.

In the first round, I imagine that everyone will be voting for flowers not represented among their team... so perhaps we should try to determine which are likely to be least 'popular.'

Some of the popular ones would be the ones most concerning to lose, I think. Depending on the effect, losing aconite could be very dangerous for example.

All parts of the soul would be concerning to lose.

Yes, but not all parts could send someone on a violent rampage. They like it when we lose control, but some of these are setting up for fights.

I still think we should avoid aconite, lotus, and maybe wild rose? To prevent increased danger after the game.

Would you prefer to burn more of our own flowers, then? There are three obstacles to remove and only eight flowers we don't have among us. Six, if we avoid aconite and wild rose.

If we only have eight amongst us then one of us will have to burn a flower at least, but I don't want us to throw our own souls into the fire... The maths really isn't on our side.

We can at least use the crown to protect ourselves when they burn, if we do it strategically.

Perhaps you should wear the crown, and we can vote on your flowers, to give it the best chance.

...I'm okay with that. What about the third flower? We need three to burn to move on.

The three highest voted overall will be burned. If we only vote those two, we reduce the chances our third vote will cause something else to knock them out of the top three... at the risk that it's more likely one of the flowers we have will be third. But I think that's the correct gamble.

Okay. They said if it's not clear who the top three are, they'd just burn all of them in a tie. We want to avoid that, but if everyone votes for the flowers in the crown they're wearing, it could balance out... It's worth the gamble.
