I'm starting to wonder if it's got anything to do with how well we sell ourselves or not.

After the aggressive start we should have likely presented ourselves as a suffering unit such as HSS or some such rather than ourselves.

And I can speak from experience that being a 'suffering unit' doesn't necessarily mean you get mercy. [ Nor want it, for that matter. ]
