Gloom: WILD CITY
[The old-fashioned writing desk in the center of the room carries several blank pieces of paper, a fine wooden pen, and a piece of parchment covered in writing. When you take a look, you find the following epigraph in a vibrant scrawl:]
Congratulations, future wordsmiths, and welcome to your first exercise in the creation of a true masterwork of tale-telling. This evening you'll be penning a terrific tragedy, starring the family of unsympathetic ne'er-do-wells provided to you.
Your goal? Why, to construct the best story your mind can conceive, of course - and make their lives as entertainingly miserable as possible before writing one of them directly into an early grave.

Re: STORYTELLING
Meanwhile, Marie's very poor and unfortunate sister was unfortunate enough to be unfortunately dragged to the woods to be with her poor sister who was afraid of clothes. (was that enough unfortunates?)
Because Belladonna was already very skinny and poor at hunting she had to rely on her sister for food and shelter (the poet was useless for this because he was an artist and artists are too delicate to hunt). But then, unfortunately, Belladonna's sister Marie disappeared.
Starving and wasting away, Belladonna went down to the lake to try and fish for her supper. She had no luck catching any actual fish, however... she did catch something else. Or rather something else caught her.
A giant tentacle monster rose from the deep, capturing Belladonna in its tentacles and tickling her which sounds harmless but apparently it is unfortunate. And then, after finishing with the tickling, the tentacle beast flung Belladonna ... into a ravine. The same ravine her sister Marie had fallen into to starve.
But don't worry! Belladonna didn't break any bones. She's just starving, which is arguably worse than breaking bones. And also there are tentacles down in the ravine to tickle her too, just for good measure.
