Heart Soldier Senshi

[ Standing on the deck of a grand galleon rocking in the midst of clear, turquoise waves. In front of your boat is an island--deserted, of course--and next to the steering wheel you'll find two large chests, one filled with bags of gold and the other filled with dark, round, innocuous looking balls, as well as two maps--one clearly depicting the uncharted island in front of you, and the other--a treasure island. And apparently just for shits and giggles, there's a pile of pirate-themed accessories in your unit color(s) you can put on--eye patches, plastic swords and water pistols, fake stuffed parrots, bandanas, a Captain's hat--even a peg-leg or two.

Your phones chime and instructions to choose where to hide both the treasure and traps on your island based on your map appears. ]

[ Players, note that you have until 6pm PST/9PM EST to make sure your unit's card is completely filled out and ready to go! Feel free to thread out burying the treasure, just selecting the spots, or fighting over the accessories, whatever floats your literal boat. ]

[Seto does not seem impressed by the accessories. What is a pirate. What is fun]

...So the strategy is to make our placements as unpredictable as possible, even once some of them have been discovered. Or even, place traps in the squares that seem most likely to be guessed.

[ well, hiryuu will go ahead and take an eye patch anyway. at least this one is cute ]

So... choose randomly for treasure, then? Which squares do you think people would most likely pick first?

The top and the corners... perhaps the very middle as well. Once they find a treasure, perhaps close by...?

That should work... maybe something like this?

[ she'll mark the map accordingly ]

[He looks at it and shifts a few around but otherwise makes a vaguely affirmative noise]

That looks good enough.

[ listen she'll be the first to admit that she's not used to playing war-games. she probably played some chess with they boys, but they weren't always around. ]

It seems this style of games where tactics are key really suit you, Seto. Did you play games like this back home?

For the reverse of the placement logic, we should choose something less intuitive to guess...

It may also be valuable to search a continuous enough area to see if there's some kind of pattern. Perhaps, the block of six from D3 to F4?
