CAPTIVE GAME: BARiTONES & King

[ You're in a room with no doors or windows, about the size of a living room. Depending on how many of you are around, it might feel a little cramped. The walls and ceiling are draped with fabrics, the floor covered in colorful rugs and piles of sitting cushions, but you can see the dirt ground and untreated wood walls peeking through in places. There are three or so oil lamps to light the space, each placed on a stump-like round little table that isn't big enough to hold much else. It's kind of cozy, but...

Most of the cushions are embroidered with an array of colors, but there's one pillow in particular, set aside from the rest, that's one solid color – Eichi's position color. ]

Do forgive us the lack of hospitality. I do not believe we've been introduced? I'm Cosmo. I suppose one of your friendly torturers for the day. However that pans out.
puzzlekeeper: who thinks that my 7 handsome border collies are too loud through-out the day to a round of chess, the game of kings (i challenge any man)

I figured it was something like that, since I was kidnapped and tied up.

[ Leaning back as well as he can given his . . . position. ]

So. What are the rules of this game I'm supposed to be playing in?

You'll forgive me if I don't read them out to you. But in essence, we torture, you do whatever it is you do, and then I suppose after a while it is all over.

Simple enough.

Unfortunately, that's too much for me to forgive.

A game where only one party knows the rules isn't much of a game at all, is it? Unless you're so uncertain of your fair chances that the only way to succeed is to be dishonorable.

Is honor so important to you?
puzzlekeeper: i tasted 100 different wines in a cave behind a waterfall and cried into a shaman's arms (while you were "gaming")

Extremely.

Especially in games.

Why in games so specifically?

Ah, but do pardon the intrusion.

[He is going to loot King's pockets for his phone.]

[ Flatly: ]

Take me to dinner first.

[ There is indeed a phone in there though. CONGRATULATIONS. ]

[He'll take it and scroll through the recent entries, before tossing it to Alexander.]

And you haven't even told me the name you prefer going by.

[ He's welcome to see the latest texts in his inbox (most of which are teammates just asking where the fuck he is), the camera roll has this recent video, but other than that, the phone is like . . . barely used.

Old man style. ]

Maybe I'll tell you when you're done murdering me, or whatever it is you're planning to do.

[Huh I know texting is off but definitely queuing that video to send to Yvette the second the signal is back on.]

Yes, yes, we're very villainous. I can do an excellent evil laugh if it will help you feel in the mood?

No thanks. My impression of this unit's playstyle has never been that you're particularly intimidating. Just underhanded and cowardly.

Please do, actually, that would make this more interesting.

Certainly.

[He'll come bring a cushion to prop behind him! And in doing so pat his shoulder. Do you remember how to feel spiteful? No? Strange. The whole concept of hate is gone.]

[ But what is a self-destructive spiral without spite?

Extreme indifference, probably.

Thanks.

I would, but being hog-tied is complicating things.
