BATTLE MECHANICS

This is a turn-based fight. PCs will take their turn, the boss will react, and then the boss will take their turn. Players will react and take their turn, and so on and so forth.

You may take up to six actions in one turn, including dodge. You may attack up to 6 times if you're not dodging, and you can attack even if you are dodging or fail to dodge. If a swing delivers more than one attack (throwing multiple projectiles at the same time) then it's counted as one "action".

With every strike/blow/attack, .roll 1d6 twice (or !2d6. MAKE SURE TO DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE NADEKO IS A TRAITOR. The first dice determines whether your attack succeeds or fails, with 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success. The second dice determines how much damage you inflict on the boss. Please include both numbers with your comment on your turn.

Roll for every strike, not for every turn. If your character decides to shoot 4 times in succession, roll a 2d6 for every bullet.

Green text can be dodged, but red text is guaranteed damage. Dodge by using a 1d6, 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success.

UNIT ABILITY MECHANICS ARE HERE, but please note: this is not the end-all be-all of how these powers can be used, and these are not the only powers that can be used in a fight, these are just the ones that affect rolls specifically. The session's runner always has the final say, so ask if you want to do something cool but you don't think it's street legal. (It probably is.)

Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.

EFFECTS LIST
Black substance, both sticky and acidic
A sticky substance that seems to cling to everything it touches, and is impossible to pull off. It melts through flesh, but the more it melts, the more it seems to become absorbed. Sufficient absorption of this substance in any capacity (skin absorption, digestion) will result in corruptions that may be permanent. May be removed by severing the affected area, or by bringing the affected area to the deadzone.

[ Cypress's blows don't quite hit the fiends, but Rye's ingenuity and Kir Royale's rage more than make up for the misses. All of them are shocked—eight are left alive after first brush with the live wires, but then. . .

Something else happens: you see all the light poles suddenly light up, brighter than they've ever been—then, just as suddenly, the lights go out.

The whole city is dark.

Oops.

Well, at least the demons are gone—though in the darkness you can still feel the cold mist of dark fog, which lingers in the air. . . ]

[Oh things are dark]

[As I hit the ground as I turn back into a human with just some scales, an arm with two bullets, and SO MANY CHUNKS OF FLESH bitten out.]

She looks over at the dark lump of paloma's body, her voice trembling: ]

Is-- is she...

No, but I can move if need be.

[Pushes himself to sit up with a groan, looking over himself.] No one would have any bandages would they? Because that....that is a lot of bleeding....

[He just got the wounds so he isn't suffering blood loss YET, but that is a lot of wounds.]

The saddlebags on my bike have medical supplies. It's over there somewhere. LiliS girl, fix him up.

[ points in...vaguely the direction it skidded off in before immediately heading over to go check Paloma for living. ]

[ startles, but immediately trots over to the bike where she remembered seeing it last and obediently bringing back the kit.

She switches her phone flashlight on so she can settle next to him and pop the phone between her teeth to illuminate the kit so she can search through it for what she needs and check Rye's wounds. ]

[Oh good, that works.]

[He will just be sitting here and stripping off his jacket and shirt to get at least most of the injuries. Not even damaged save for new blood, thanks frog materia. He will worry about legs in a minute, one step at a time.]

[There is scales on his back, going up his neck and down the upper part of his arms, and SO MANY SCARS from various fire/sword/whatever fights.]

[And all his new pock marks.] I just need enough to stop the bleeding. I'll go to SensitIV right away, just...just need to be able to get to them. [Looking around to take in what happened and-]

....oh. [Just realizing Palomo isn't getting a whole lot of medical attention despite being on the ground.]

[ yeah that's probably because her chest isn't really rising and falling anymore.

[ they pause for a moment, and then: ]

It's fine. I can fix this. It's fine.

[ it's super not but at least it is fixable. they're going to scoop her up, and...look over at their thoroughly wrecked motorcycle.

[ said through the phone in her mouth, tilting her head to angle the flashlight properly; she wipes clean, disinfects, and puts only bare minimum banding over the wounds for now, working quickly and quietly and maybe grateful that the dark mostly hides the nausea plain on her face.

She pulls back after she's done, taking her phone from her mouth and calling back to ruby: ]

Were you hurt...?

...I can call my teammates. Fast animals, big animals, make it easier to get....get her back to safety where we can get SensitIV and Pep!Pep.

[Instead of, you know, having them die to get to us.]

[Checks over his legs though and okay, got one good bite there, but he can do that himself. Lot easier than his torso alone.]

[ they look at their phone, scrolling through the points shop - ]

Can either of you drive? I've got enough points for two bikes. Or a bike and a sidecar, I guess.

[ thinks on that for. A long moment. ]

No, don't even know what a bike is.

they buy motorcycles, one with a sidecar and one without. once the delivery animals bring them, they're putting Paloma's corpse in the sidecar and tossing the keys for the other motorcycle to Cypress. ]

[ ??? Well ok. Gently placing the knife somewhere secure and getting onto the bike and starting it-- it's a natural, fluid motion, mostly muscle memory, she finds, and is more than a little surprised by that. ]

[ which is about the closest they've sounded to not sullen and depressed since the fight ended. their tail even beats a bit against their seat! almost happiness. ]
