BATTLE MECHANICS

This is a turn-based fight. PCs will take their turn, the boss will react, and then the boss will take their turn. Players will react and take their turn, and so on and so forth.

You may take up to six actions in one turn, including dodge. You may attack up to 6 times if you're not dodging, and you can attack even if you are dodging or fail to dodge. If a swing delivers more than one attack (throwing multiple projectiles at the same time) then it's counted as one "action".

With every strike/blow/attack, .roll 1d6 twice (or !2d6. MAKE SURE TO DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE NADEKO IS A TRAITOR. The first dice determines whether your attack succeeds or fails, with 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success. The second dice determines how much damage you inflict on the boss. Please include both numbers with your comment on your turn.

Roll for every strike, not for every turn. If your character decides to shoot 4 times in succession, roll a 2d6 for every bullet.

Green text can be dodged, but red text is guaranteed damage. Dodge by using a 1d6, 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success.

UNIT ABILITY MECHANICS ARE HERE, but please note: this is not the end-all be-all of how these powers can be used, and these are not the only powers that can be used in a fight, these are just the ones that affect rolls specifically. The session's runner always has the final say, so ask if you want to do something cool but you don't think it's street legal. (It probably is.)

Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.

EFFECTS LIST
Black substance, both sticky and acidic
A sticky substance that seems to cling to everything it touches, and is impossible to pull off. It melts through flesh, but the more it melts, the more it seems to become absorbed. Sufficient absorption of this substance in any capacity (skin absorption, digestion) will result in corruptions that may be permanent. May be removed by severing the affected area, or by bringing the affected area to the deadzone.

[Drawing back the blade and –– I mean. Sabre's closest, really, so if she wants to ~paint the town red~ it's only practical to start there. But for whatever reason, she doesn't, turning instead and pushing off on a foot to launch herself at Hiryuu, moving like she wasn't just tossed around by a gigantic Hell demon. As soon as she's in range, she brings the blade across her body in a vicious slash, all brute mindless violence, no strategy or skill to it.]

[ Perhaps it's because--she also has a sword? Or maybe because her hair is red like blood? Who knows, it doesn't really matter why so much as the what--

and that what is now Kohime burying the cursed sword between her neck and shoulder. Hiryuu staggers under the force of the blow, knees threatening to buckle, blood--gushing, quite frankly. Belatedly, she thinks--it would have been a really good choice to have been Henshined for this.

Oops. ]

[ No no no no no.

She staggers to her feet and then immediately falls over again, gasping for air. ]

No!

[ Through the bond there's -- panic and fear and guilt, this wasn't supposed to happen to Kohime, this wasn't supposed to happen to Hiryuu, they had a plan-- ]

[ Snarls through her panic: ]

Are you stupid? It's the sword, make yourself useful for once and take it away from her!

If your sword's so bad, what'd you bring it for?

[Bitching or not, she's actually looking for a safer opening to interfere since unlike mmmost people here she's not particularly interested in hurting any of the people currently fighting]

And what're you doing grabbing this crazy-making people-sword anyways? We got plenty of normal swords right here!

[ But at least Heroes Never Die was always on.

She reaches with her hands to clutch at Kohime's wrist and locks her fingers around the hand holding the sword into her body. As hot, red blood seeps around her rather sizable wound--she activates Buddy System yet again, small, red dragon coils up and around her wrist.

SURPRISE, there is--deep concern for her waiting on the other side, as well as a surprising (well, maybe to kohime) amount of respect for her fellow combatant, not to mention the terrible, agonizing pain that Kohime is putting her through. Distantly, she can hear Sabre screaming (and probably Hurricane too--and their horror--and Kohime gets to feel her affection for them, too... as well as gentle care and reassurance and determination directed toward her. ]

You don't need to do this. Drop the sword, Kohime.

[ her grip is not very tight, unfortunately--so kohime is free to pull away or to take another swing or go for someone else. ]

Hiryuu!

[He'd relaxed, marginally, when Sabre returned to her normal self, but that falls away in an instant as the sword buries itself in Hiryuu's neck]

[He darts in, bracer blades flashing as he tries to press Kohime back. It's not a block - the blow's already been dealt - but he crosses the pair of his blades like he would for a block, getting them up under the larger sword and pushing to try and force her back physically]

Get off her - !

[ There it is, that feeling again—recognizably the same ?person's? emotions as before.

This time, with nothing else but this one bond to focus on, the feelings are clearer:

It feels like overwhelming, euphoric bloodthirst, beyond the point of all reason.
It feels like the fire at the base of the world that burns you up with love and pain.
It feels like the precipice of extinction.
It feels like the world is a Lie, but all it takes to find the truth is to cut, and c̦͙͍͍͘u̴̹̯̱̟t̨̬̺, and c͇͖͝u̷̧̙̬̙̳͘t̨̧̪̯̱̦. ]

[There's not much distinguishable as Kohime under that, she burns and hungers right along with it and it's impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins.

She stumbles back as Hurricane shoves her (the blade heaving from Hiryuu's shoulder unpleasantly) and the connection severs, but her expression doesn't so much as flicker, and she lashes out with the blade again, this time clumsy and awkward as she's off balance. She doesn't seem to care, she just wants to make the blade sing.]

[ Well, the bad thing is -- Buddy System doesn't sever with phyiscal contact loss, so SURPRISE Kohime gets to take that with her. But--when she lashes out a second time, Hiryuu raises her sword to parry the blow this time.

She can feel all that bloodthirst, the exultation of death and destruction--and it is nearly overwhelming. But... she has seven other hearts beating with hers besides Kohime and--the sword?--and with her own indomitable will and the memories of the love and the truths and sincerity she knows to be true, she pushes back, mentally--andphysically, striking back, sword ringing against sword. ]

There are so many people, so many beautiful things that you'll miss in the world if you simply cut them down, both of you. Let us help you.

[ She reaches, mentally, again--patience, love, comfort, persistence so much older than her physical body, deeper than a mortal slip of a girl ought to possess. ]

[ That other bloodlust.... falters, for a moment.

Because oh, oh it loves the world so much. She's right, she's right, she's right.

But then that halfway coherent thought is drowned beneath the battle madness once again. ]

[There seems to be a lot of feelings going on around here.

(Gross.)

When the Hiryuu's sword pushes back against the blade, a little help from Polarity will rip it right out of Kohime's hands so it can clatter on the ground next to Intensity. Far out of Kohime (or Sabre's) reach.

Which leaves Hiryuu still armed with a sword but--- since it's a Heart Weapon and Hiryuu's a paladin, it shouldn't be able to hurt Kohime much if it connects. ... Probably.]

Wake up, Kohime.

[She staggers back, flinching, her expression all numb shock.

For Hiryuu, it's like a receding tide, all that violence and anger extinguishing and fading back into some deep, twisted scar -- old wounds that never quite healed right. There's also an odd tinge of something like regret at the loss –– it's so, so much easier to be angry, to shelter in rage and bitterness from all the things that are painful and frightening. It's safer.

And right after that, rapidly rising panic and fear and what just happened.

In time with that, her tail starts lashing and she makes a wordless, strangled noise of distress.]

[ The sword goes flying out of Kohime's hand, hurtling a few meters away before its blade catches in the dirt.

Then its form dissolves, leaving a certain member of BAD END in its place—though the crack-like scars across her body flicker with faint light that glows a recognizable shade of flame blue. A few of the cracks look unhealthily corroded with rust.

Hellfire pushes herself to her knees, and coughs. ]

[ Honestly, she's a Paladin; you didn't have to worry about her trying again once the sword is dislodged; her own weapon disappears in a lot of red and bronze glittering sparkles. Before she can properly flood Kohime with SYMPATHY AND COMPASSION likt she would like to--something truly unexpected happens.

WHOAH HEY THE SWORD BECAME A PERSON!!

Looking back and forth between Kohime and Hellfire like ??!!?!? ]

H-Hello?!

[Wow don't look at her, this was all Sabre's idea. She's just over here struggling to process literally anything that's happening right now.]
