BATTLE MECHANICS

This is a turn-based fight. PCs will take their turn, the boss will react, and then the boss will take their turn. Players will react and take their turn, and so on and so forth.

You may take up to six actions in one turn, including dodge. You may attack up to 6 times if you're not dodging, and you can attack even if you are dodging or fail to dodge. If a swing delivers more than one attack (throwing multiple projectiles at the same time) then it's counted as one "action".

With every strike/blow/attack, .roll 1d6 twice (or !2d6. MAKE SURE TO DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE NADEKO IS A TRAITOR. The first dice determines whether your attack succeeds or fails, with 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success. The second dice determines how much damage you inflict on the boss. Please include both numbers with your comment on your turn.

Roll for every strike, not for every turn. If your character decides to shoot 4 times in succession, roll a 2d6 for every bullet.

Green text can be dodged, but red text is guaranteed damage. Dodge by using a 1d6, 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success.

UNIT ABILITY MECHANICS ARE HERE, but please note: this is not the end-all be-all of how these powers can be used, and these are not the only powers that can be used in a fight, these are just the ones that affect rolls specifically. The session's runner always has the final say, so ask if you want to do something cool but you don't think it's street legal. (It probably is.)

Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.

EFFECTS LIST
Black substance, both sticky and acidic
A sticky substance that seems to cling to everything it touches, and is impossible to pull off. It melts through flesh, but the more it melts, the more it seems to become absorbed. Sufficient absorption of this substance in any capacity (skin absorption, digestion) will result in corruptions that may be permanent. May be removed by severing the affected area, or by bringing the affected area to the deadzone.

Are you still able to use verticality? I'm not the sturdiest thing to lean on right now.

[ leans against him, but not with his full weight; he does in fact use Verticality to hover a few inches off the ground. ]

'Course I can. I'm not—[ cough ]—dead yet.

Is the yet part something I should worry about?

[ so that's a "maybe, but not hopefully not." ]

[Starts heading back in the direction of the hotel, pulling Man Eater along with him.

But also pausing.]

Your cat coming with?

[ glances back at her. ]

Well, I'm not about to just leave her...

[ he waves her over with an arm and shouts: ] Sabre!

[ cue another coughing fit wracking his body. it's fine. ]

[Yeah. ... Fine.]

If it's that bad, I'm carrying you.

[ grips at his coat, ughhh. ]

Thought you weren't feeling sturdy...

Seems a more manageable offense than ingesting an unknown amount of toxic demon poison.

... Well, I'm gonna release The Harder They Fall, so you better not drop me...

[Sorry Man Eater, you get the indignity of being carried newbride style]

[ he doesn't really mind being carried so much; he's more concerned about putting the extra strain on Intensity when he's injured. but he goes up into his arms without protest.

once he's properly settled there, a black glow envelops his legs as he deactivates Harder They Fall, and they hang even more limply and heavily than before. ]

[Broken ribs never killed anyone. Unless they puncture something. But whatever. It's fine.]

Let's get your cat and find you a White Mage. Surely there must be one around here somewhere.

[ yeah. "fine." ]

Yeah... 'ppreciate it.

[ and in fact, his cat is coming along for the ride. thankfully, she weighs nothing thanks to Verticality, and Man☆Eater might as well weigh nothing in the first place. ]

[Cool cool. He's bringing him to his favorite White Mage because he might have pissed off all the others in the last hostage game.

[ She hobbles over, because-- same. Her breathing is unpleasantly rattling. ]

[ by now he's been scooped up into Intensity's arms bridal style. in addition to the coughing, his legs are dangling limply now that Harder They Fall has worn off. ]

We're gonna go find a healer. Wanna come with?

. . . Yeah.

Yeah, okay.

[ Her own mobility is shot by her lungs, though, so she verticalities herself and latches onto some part of him. ]

Good.

[ he wraps his arm snug around her, anchoring her to him. all aboard the SS Intensity. ]

[ She curls close until she's practically nuzzled against him and just kind of. Aggressively tries to ignore that Intensity is here. ]

. . . Thanks. For keeping your promise.

[ raspy, but assured: ]

'Course I did. I'm a man of my word.

It worked, too.

[ If we set aside Kohime throwing the whole thing off but Sabre can't manage to be mad at her about it ]

So that's good to know, I guess . . .

You did look pretty—[ cough ]—badass out there.

[ also Intensity is getting us healing. ]

[ Flicking a mistrustful glance in Intensity's direction. ]
