Things do not remain nice if you break them.

[ His voice has real venom in it— that sentiment is the one thing he cannot stand. It stands contrary to his philosophy, and echoes someone specific.

THE TOP OF THE STONE IS PROBABLY TOO FAR TO JUST REACH HER UP AND PUT HER. he is going to try to find a ledge to put her up, far out of reach of everyone else. ]

That's just what you like. You and everyone else. This place is so beautiful, anyone should be happy to be here, right?

[ she catches his face between her hands. her arms don't have as much strength as real arms, she couldn't stop him from pulling away if he wants, but the metal digs into his cheeks ]

Your heart knows good from bad soooo well, Itsuki.

I know what it is like to be broken and suffer because of another's whim, that passing fancy of I want. I do not need to debate good and evil to wish to spare him from having one of his rare fragile moments of peace shattered. You have already done it, but I can make certain it does not happen again!

[ He looks her in the eye and he isn't trying to pull back from that, because he's using his arms to hold her.

until he finds a high rock shelf, and he puts her down.

And tells her, with common law: ]

[ and then ]

[ also, like she's a dog I guess. ]

[ pulls a knife out of her sleeve and goes for his neck ]

[ the knife turns to black sand the moment it touches shu's skin.

more than that, ao's hand begins to form hairline cracks. they crawl up from the point where she held the hilt of the knife, and they just... continue growing bigger and bigger until they reach the point where metal touches her skin and stop. ]

Stop it. Stop fighting...!

Whatever you say.

[ drops her arms. ]

[ His eyes widen in shock, mouth opening. But before it can connect, the knife that was meant for his throat falls away into useless grit, and his held breath doesn't release, he's barely processing it before Tsukinaga is shouting and Ao is starting to break apart. ]

[ but she stops and he takes that choke breath and falls over backwards, still looking up at her in horror, eyes transfixed on the cracks like they're something else awful that she's doing on purpose. or maybe just transfixed because they're awful. ]

[ follows his gaze ]

[ picks up her cracked hand

and slams it into the shelf she's sitting on ]

[ well. yeah it breaks apart.

and as it breaks it bursts into something, momentarily, beautiful. a burst of stars, of blues and blacks and purples, a veritable supernova of space and light and color. it's almost worth it isn't it? just to see that brief explosion of meaning.

but then it begins to suck her in. a vortex appears, and just like that ao is devoured.

everyone else remains untouched. unless they try to stop it, that is. ]

[ . . . B L I N K S

That happened. ]

. . . Is she okay?

AAAAAAANYWAYS sometime during all this shenanigans a door appeared out of nowhere.

and instead of. you know. questioning what just happened like a normal person, leo's going through it. ]

Tsukinaga, wait! Are you all right!?

[ going to chase after him ]

[ Definitely following after...! ]

"Tsukinaga, wait!"

Shu...!

[ There's panic and shock in her voice, complete alarm-- followed by relief, though she's no less shaken.

She's just... immediately rushing over to Shu in order to yank him farther away from Ao. ]

Are you okay!?

[ WELL HE FELL OVER BACKWARDS AND IS STARING AT HER

also, pointing at her now, and all the cracks all over her

WHY THAT. ]

[ You know what. She will worry about Ao after she has made sure that you are okay.

Reaching down to grasp his hand, she works to pull him back to his feet. ]

Come on.

[ SORRY HE'S KIND OF DEAD WEIGHT, CRAWLING BACKWARDS. ]

What is she doing— I did not have anything to do with that!

You're not responsible for that, Shu.

[ SHU. ]

It might have to do with the actions she's taking in this place. And it might get better if she...takes less drastic measures in this game.

It does not matter what actions she takes, if destruction is her goal! She does not even care who it is— look, she is destroying herself!

[ He looks at her while gesticulating wildly, PLEASE LOOK, THE EVIDENCE IS RIGHT BEFORE OUR VERY EYES ]

And if that is the case, this is merely a dream and a game, and we will wake up from it like we always do.

[ SHE'S NOT GOING TO LOOK AT AO RIGHT NOW AND REWARD HER BAD BEHAVIOR. ]

The person I am most worried about right now is Tsukinaga-kun. We have to do our best to get him to return without completely breaking him, right?

Game or not, that is her! Our minds are unaffected, and yet she is like this!

[ HE'S JUST EXTREMELY ALARMED STILL ]

Maybe she thought... hurting us would rock the world enough that he wouldn't want to exist in it.

You're his important friend from home, right?

[ he says sharply, but more lucid.

and, she has a point. He looks around— Where has Tsukinaga gone? ]
