[She bends down to see if there's a dagger or a shortsword or anything like that she can take. No, she's not good with these things, but it feels like a sensible thing to have, right now.]
the sword you find is... larger than you expected, forged of dark metal that shines like an oilslick. It almost feels like the air around it is... colder, somehow.
And it seems to have a singular, wicked mind of its own, so when you reach to pick it up—somehow it's turned in your hand, somehow you approach it wrong, and...
...it buries itself in your gut, lancing all the way through. It hurts—it hurts so terribly, so badly, and you can feel blood soaking into your clothing, and the shifting of your guts. You cough, and there's blood that spatters there, too.
And yet, the life doesn't feel like it's leaving you. You feel as hale and vital as before, just beset by the sharp, burning pain of a stomach wound. ]
[No. Stop screaming. Wednesday slaps her hands over her mouth and of course all thoughts that maybe she ought to find a weapon too have been chased away completely. No no nope I'm fine like this actually!!
[She straightens. Lifts her shaking hands from her face.]
It hurts, but... That's all. It doesn't seem like it actually damaged me.
[Definitely feels like it though!! They get up, up the sword to lever themself with. But they are moving way better than a person with a grievous stomach wound should, so there's that.]
[Wednesday nods, and - it's a little harder this tine, with wet shoes on slippy walls, but nothing she hasn't had to do in gym class - shimmies back up the rope to the top of the well.]
Re: THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL
A sort of graveyard, I think.

A-are you...
Re: THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL
They're keeping this sword. Cardinal gingerly touches the wound, starting to move around and realize that they're actually fine.]
Ugh. I'm alright Wednesday, it just startled me.
I think I can officially say touching anything sharp is a bad idea. We should get out of here.
Re: THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL
[THERE IS A SWORD IN YOU.
[Okay it's mostly out now but... aaaaaah avante are far too used to stabbing themselves!!]
Do you think you can climb back up? Aren't you going to put that down what if it stabs you again?
[Look I am discounting nothing at this point]

If it attacks again, I'll be ready this time.
[Probably.]
Re: THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL
[They're bleeding quite a lot...
[She steps back to allow Cardinal to get back to the rope, then hesitates.]
Um, should I go first? I can run and get help... Unless you need help, or something...
Re: THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL
I can make it, I promise. It really looks worse than it is. Some kind of illusion.
[A real illusion?? Whatever, they're not dying so it's fine.]
Re: THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL
[She reaches for the rope.]
Re: THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL
I'll be right behind you.

Re: THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL
