Within the darkness, you can just barely hear the echoes of distant voices, too faint to identify . . .

"Man Eater is so scary! Man Eater is a killer! It's all very alarming but. . .that's all there is, isn't it?

Neeheehee, brutish as you may be, someone like you will never be more than that. You'll kill, and you'll die. Over and over, until it's permanent some day."

"And you're the same... Hitoshiki! The truth is you're just a serial killer who's only good for killing—so why are you going to school like some normal kid?! Leading a dual life when you don't even have a dual personality—it's not fair! Why only you?! It's not fair!"

"It's better not to fight, sometimes. I feel kind of sorry for you..."

"So what it comes down to is this. Would you rather stay what you are, or be happy?"

Gradually, those voices blend into the hum of a bustling crowd... naturally enough to make you wonder if perhaps you were just hearing things, after all.

He looks up and grins when he sees who it is. "Oh c'moooon, Izumun's got enough love to go around!" He makes a few kissy faces at her.

I hate that nickname so much.

[ grabs his face and gives him an obnoxiously noisy kiss though.

Then just goes back to draping. ]

Man☆Eater seems fine with this, but Hitoshiki makes a face. Definitely not because he's jealous, though.

"I'm kicking his ass," Man☆Eater offers helpfully.

[Sticks her tongue out at hitoshiki, obviously. ]

"Oh, I have been, and I'm gonna keep it that way. Right, Tosshi?"

"Gimme a break," Hitoshiki shoots back.

Pff. If you want a break I can always take him on.

Manny grins and cackles, leaning into that.

Hitoshiki raises an eyebrow and grins. "Hey, I'm not that easy. This guy's just in a league of his own."

Yeah yeah, enough chattin', I'll whoop his butt for you. What's the game?

[ straightens up, grinning at manny. ]

"That right? We were gonna try a round of darts next."

Heck yeah, let's do it. Whatever stakes you want, nerds.

Man☆Eater seems to consider that. "I was just gonna make him take me on a date, but how's that work with three of us?"

What, you can't take me on a date too? I'm hurt, dude.

[ a pause ]

Wahaha. Just kidding! I don't wanna date your boy, he ain't my type. You can totally buy me dinner or something later.

"Gyahahaha! You think I wouldn't take you to dinner even if I win? You're on, though."

He starts leading them over to the darts booth.

[ follows after, still smiling. ]

Sooooo, is baby boy here refusing to take you on a date? Do I gotta beat him up for you?

"Pfft! Please, like I couldn't beat him up on my own," Eater says with a grin.

"I'm right here, you know," Hitoshiki interjects. "How come everyone keeps taking his side? What a riot."

Cuz I love him, obviously.

"Gyahaha! C'mon, Req, you're gonna make me blush."

Man☆Eater says it flippantly, but there may actually be some truth to it, seeing as he ducks his head and immediately turns his attention to the dart booth.

"Heyyyy, we'd like to go a round."

[ pleased!! her own face is warm, but she lets him keep his dignity this time.

and she'll head up to collect the darts once they've got a turn secured. ]

The student running the booth does indeed hand over a set of three steel tip darts, then clears out of the way.

"Wanna go first?" Man☆Eater asks Req after she grabs them.

Sure!

[ lining up her aim...!

And pitches all three at the board. (not at the same time.) ]
