Princess Maker 1.5: Taisho Roman Revolution

[ When you insert the key and open the door, you'll find the room inside looks like the living room of a mansion. There are several doors, but one in particular stands out to you: it is ornately decorated, the very door's wood itself carved beautifully with gold etched in to make luxurious patterns depicting what looks like the sky and the wind blowing through the grasslands. Though the door is closed, you can see through it—as if it's somewhat transparent.

The room is painted baby blue and a gold-plated cradle sits in the room. Inside, a baby cries—high pitched and noisy. That child, your charge—you're her nursemaid, so you go to her and rock her to sleep. ]

-

[ Slowly, the scene changes, fading in and out with various silent scenes—the baby sits up, trying to climb out of her cradle; a little toddler dressed prettily with expensive clothes beams pleasantly; a tantrum, thrown by the little girl who's distressed; the little girl holding a puppy, pleased as punch; then the wall becomes opaque. ]

[ In the middle of the open doorway, a young girl at the age of 11 sits on a chair, smiling at you. A long-haired, pure white cat is curled up beside her.

This is your little girl. you couldn't help spoiling her, honestly—after all, she's a noble too, and she should like to become a princess as well. She deserves it! But you also know, with how her family history has gone, she's going to have to work to get to the top. Still, you have faith in her—she's your girl, after all. Fortunately, when she goes to the Lost Continent, she won't be alone: you, as her longtime caretaker (her third parent, really, or her first, if you consider how her family's left her care entirely to you), may accompany her to her new school. You'll be her ally, her support, her greatest weapon; you'll be the one who determines her success . . . or her failure. ]

[ Of course, you're not the only one that thinks your charge deserves the world: Samira, one of the Queens of your Kingdom, hand-selected your employers' child. She could not send her own child to the Lost Continent, of course—she has her own inheritance battle to face within the Kingdom and sending her own child out is essentially forfeiting that battle—so she's selected theirs to sponsor. It's because of her that your charge will be able to go at all. That your child would catch the Queen's eye surely means the inheritance is as good as hers! ]

She has deflected suspicion already. Is there actually a problem to be dealt with?

I guess we should be voting for the sports class? I say sure! Why not!

I'm not really sure...

[ Hmm, she's quiet and thoughtful for a moment. ]

I think we ought to have her support the sports class. Whether or not she's involved with it, it's good to give children options for a number of different outlets, whether in music, sports, or elsewhere.

[ She sighs... ]

If anything, don't you think the other two girls are the concern here? Maybe they're trying to set her up again. I think that, honestly, Ruka should keep this girl under her wing. Maybe we should have her join a sports team, and she can offer to show the common girl how to play the piano?
syncintohell: (they definitely can’t see)

Why would the other two girls frame themselves? It is clearly none of the noble girls involved in this. If anything, it is one of the knights of the commoner.
sunflowering: DO NOT TAKE (That's not what I mean)

Re: DISCUSSION

That's true...

Actually, now that I think about it, wasn't the knights that were trying to investigate us, to begin with? Maybe they want to get the nobles out of the way because they think it might give them a better future opportunity?

. . . Either that or they believe our children did it and that this is a form of reckoning.

Re: DISCUSSION

If they have framed them there is no justice in any of their hearts. Our daughter ought to distance herself from them, if they are so despicable as to do this despite no one being harmed and all of this being put behind them. This is not justice, this is a cold and vicious heart that claws at anything that does not go precisely their way.

Having her distance herself from them is probably the better option.

[ She sighs ]

I hate underhanded things like this. But in the end, it wouldn't make sense for one of our kids to try and steal to begin with, or at the very least to keep evidence like this after so long.

It's a little too convenient.

Honestly, my advice is that she makes it clear she had nothing to do with it, has already said her peace on the matter and that such disputes or petty attempts to tarnish her character are beneath her. She simply shouldn't engage with it further.

In that case, once the items are found and she has made it clear she has nothing to do with it, Ruka will distance herself with the girls from the Knights family and the commoner girl. If they truly had nothing to do with this attempted framing of her, then they will need to prove their good will to make up for past wrongs. Until then, they cannot be trusted.

Mm...

I agree regarding the knights. They seem a little too shifty. But she's already tried to take the commoner child under her wing, and if she is going to help with the bake sale, I think she ought to give her a chance still.

If anything else happens, I also suggest she separate from her, but... it would be a little strange to do so at this moment, and since she said she's willing to help in the sports class, we should support her with developing this relationship. Maybe it would be good for the others to see that status should not matter so much.

Is it truly status mattering if the girl was truly involved in the crime? If anything, separating from only the Knights shows status does matter, that she is willing to take on those who are utterly dependent upon her, but not those who have some power that may someday threaten her own.

I do not think it is wrong for her to want some show of loyalty from each of them before letting her guard down.

Re: DISCUSSION

I think it's fine if she distances herself a little, but I don't think she should burn any bridges. Especially, in the end, since we don't know the truth of the matter.

So I think having her continue as she has been, helping with the bake sale, but distancing herself until the others prove to be more trustworthy is fine.

Re: DISCUSSION

Very well. She will distance herself from the knights and commoner girl socially until they prove themselves trustworthy, but continue to help in the public forum, in terms of projects that are for the good of community or school, regardless of whose project it is. Do you have any objections?
