It's... a deep red flower, shaped almost like the bell of a trumpet. A hollyhock.

And this flower is the part of reality that is the experience of being in constant struggle to become something else—an arduous, painful metamorphosis so that you may one day reveal your final form.

How do you know that? Unclear. You just do; the knowledge feels as natural as breathing. ]

She knows she shouldn't touch it, but she can't help herself. Even as the hair prickles on the back of her neck with a feeling like--suspicion, distrust, nervousness--her curiosity and the lack of impulse control pushes her hand forward to touch the hollyhock. ]
