Fanmail the Thirtieth

[ Fanmail will be found in big boxes full of letters in the lobby, to be easily found by anyone who's walking by if the box isn't pulled quick enough. Some letters have QR codes, with instructions to scan them with your cell phone's free QR code scanner function. Beyond the letters that are submitted below, you may assume there are more letters in every box if you'd like.

Although bodies of letters may include idol aliases, assume every envelope and package is addressed to or otherwise uses the official idol name of the character.

Letters found in the "Everyone" header may be assumed to be part of every unit's box, most likely with multiple copies of the submission unless otherwise stated.

Characters on hiatus have their fanmail IC saved and stuffed into their mailbox for when they return! They'll be located in this post for easy findings, but don't worry, the fans' feelings will reach the character somehow ;)

Fanmail given to dropped characters will be sent to everyone in the unit, though still labeled with the dropped character's name. You can find these in the "Every Unit" subheader. ]

[ This appears to be a romance novel, entitled "Wyld Hunt." On the cover, Sashay Silfda Eistria AAA Absolute Dagger Zero Slaughtervodka Resounding Aria of Dawn and Hope hold each other close while looking out through a mountain snowstorm. ]
“Hoooooope. You look really cold.”

She cracked one eye open, slightly, from where she sat curled up against one of the cabin’s drafty walls. “I’m fine. I don’t really feel it, honestly. Dead woman, you know.”

Mostly true, anyway. Not that it was really
pleasant, but it hardly got to her the way it would if she were living flesh. Just made her a bit achy, rather than shivery.

“Wouldn’t it feel better to get away from the draft, though? There’s no reason to hold yourself back from something that’d make you feel better.” Sashay wandered over to sit facing her, knees curled up in front of their chest, and grinned. “After all, if I was going to hunt you, in this small of a space, keeping your back to the wall wouldn’t save you.”

Hope snorted. “Please. I hardly need an advantage, anyway…” She couldn’t quite meet their eyes, though.

“Are you scared?”

She wrenched her gaze up to meet theirs, finally, to give a definitive
no, of course not. But their expression is surprisingly soft, and she realizes—oh. She is. Just of something else entirely.

Or maybe, from the way Sashay doesn’t seem surprised when she leans forward to kiss them, that was what they had meant in the first place.

***

Shifter pack outcast Sashay once vowed never submit to another—but now, on the margins of society with their instincts muted by their exile, they’ve been collared by the pack that rules what was once their home territory. Freedom is on offer, but at a price—to venture into the snowy mountains, tracking the fugitive vampire Hope, who they can trade to the local vampire court for territory concessions. Though Sashay despises being treated like a mutt and called to heel, it’s easy enough to follow Hope’s scent—and they’re deeply curious as to what this other hunter is like.

Hope has always been on her own, hunting her own kind. When a shifter of all creatures comes looking to hunt her down, their fight is interrupted by another shifter looking to snatch the capture and ensure Sashay’s continued servitude—and in banding together to survive, Hope realizes that she might have, for the first time, found a kindred spirit. Vampires and shifters have always been at odds, but after long days and nights spent together in close quarters, hiding from those who would betray them, she realizes that she can no longer deny her own attraction.

Can a vampire and a shifter form a pack of their own? And can they forge those bonds before it’s too late for either of them?

[It's a fanfic of Hope being a native of S's world, or what little is known of his world. A magical creature, hidden in shadows, who one day runs into this born who expected a normal life and then got pulled into magic.]

[Hope sees he has some talent in magic and decides to help train him in it while she's doing her own research, using his connections to find books and ancient artifacts. It almost seems a sweet mentor/student relationship.]

[Until the day S goes searching for whatever magic is causing a town wide power outage only to find Hope in a dangerous looking ritual.]

[That he proceeds to interrupt in his concern for her.]

[It's only after he learns that no, that was on purpose to his shock and horror because she looked in pain. She brushes it off and says it's the only way to make the world fair.]

[After all, a God that would make a world where so many beings have to constantly hide for their own safety was clearly doing a bad job. She intended to take over and make it so humans, trolls, vampires, and all sorts could live in peace.]

[It is met with silence at first, Hope saying that S doesn't need to concern himself with it.]

[The story ends with him asking what could he do to help.]

She could feel Amaranth’s blade resting against her stomach. Hope didn’t flinch, though, eyes watching Amaranth’s face—watching a thin line of blood trail down from a crease on her forehead where Hope had slammed her into the wall moments ago.

God. She could
smell it from here, vibrant, hear the beat of her heart like a bass drum—her breath caught in her throat, and she had to very carefully school her voice into something more calm. “Are you really going to use that, Amaranth? Do you mean to kill me?”

“Hope, what is going
on. They said you’re committing treason, but this…” She trailed off, for once in her life finally sounding uncertain. “What did they do to you.”

Very slowly, so as not to surprise her into doing anything unfortunate with that knife, she put a palm to the side of Amaranth’s face, and rose on tiptoes to kiss the wound at her forehead, lapping up the blood with a flick of her tongue.

“This is what they did to me,” she said, pulling back, and wiping her mouth. “And I’m going to stop them from doing it to anyone else. Are you in or not?”

***

Her retirement just ahead of her, Amaranth is called upon to do one more duty for her country—to track down a rogue scientist who’s gone into hiding with government secrets, ostensibly to sell them abroad. What she’s surprised to find is that the scientist is Hope, a one-time close ally who she drifted away from when they were both reassigned. Hope was always as principled as she was beautiful—which is to say, very—and Amaranth resolves to track her down and get answers. But gets far more than she bargained for.

Hope is ready to fight for her life after running off with the only copy of her research encoded into her very DNA—a scientific project that has made her a living weapon, but makes survival a terrible curse. She needs time to undo the change, and intends to return to sabotage the further trials, but is interrupted by Amaranth tracking her down—her elegant once-bodyguard knew her too well. And while she could run, her new powers have given her new hungers, and in the face of the one woman she could trust, she cannot resist them.

Swept up in a web of intrigue and passion, can the two women unravel the conspiracy and cure Hope before it’s too late for both of them?
