Eh... hold on.

five baskets of five were twenty-five. So another five baskets would be... fifty. And that is ten baskets...

So fifty with another fifty is one hundred... and another basket is one hundred and five apples.

That is just counting. All I did was keep adding fives until I had it into a larger number that would be easier to count.

Uh... [ that's harder than dealing with five which is easy to work with. ]

Nine is almost ten, so... ten... seven times would be seventy. Then if I take away seven [ using his hands ].... sixty-three?

I am only counting. I do not really see the difference between this multiplication.

I had an excellent education so of course I would know how to count.

Well, it takes a little longer than necessary if you're counting it manually every time. Especially with larger numbers. And you really can't get by with just counting when it comes to more complicated mathematics...

But I suppose that's not relevant right this moment.
