You feel weak, your body won't move no matter how you try, and you are falling, away from everything you know and love. Away from everything you need to accomplish. If you could just reach out, maybe you could hold on to it, claw your way back. But it's a useless endeavour, you fall unconscious, and your mind goes blank except for poetry and a familiar voice.

You wake on the ground in a cave, cold, wet, and sticky. It smells of rotting flesh. Your objective is clear, but you can't recall a name or face. Nothing else about your memory of him is changed, but for some reason the name "Vergil" just won't come to you, and you couldn't describe how he looks if your life depended on it. But at least your body starts to respond to your will, slowly regaining enough strength to carry on.

[Oh. He floats though it's probably too late to save the robe from being a bit bloodied. That's fine. He'll just float like an asshole over the lake looking a sword.]

You float over the blood like an asshole. It's a lot of the same thing, rubble, creepy statues staring at you, and blood. But you seem to really irritate the statues, there's whispers hissed among them.

They don't actually have eyes, no more than blank carvings anyway, and yet it's as if they follow you like the Mona Lisa. With the unmistakable feeling that they're judging you. They stare right into your soul. Are you worthy? Likely not. But you gain 1 Perseverance for enduring the scrutiny.

As you get close to one, those eyes form slit pupils, as if they're carved in real time, fangs growing over its bottom lip.

"You... We know that smell. You have the stench of a traitor. Sparda, that treacherous cur."

[You know what, he's kind of annoyed from fighting Nelo Angelos and he really wants to explode this mouthy piece of petrified demon king.

But he will refrain for a moment.]

And what of it? Is there anything elucidating you would like to add? Or is that the best you can muster, moldering here, even your glory forgotten? Let alone whatever grand name you may have had.

There's a silence in which it might be making a face and grinding its teeth if it could. "...But you are not the same one. Another of that pathetic bloodline? ...No." It scoffs, an attempt to brush the comment off. "Our glorious name, yes, We demand you return it to Us."

[He floats down, toes just above the lake in front of the statue.]

So even you do not recall? Which are you I wonder? Someone familiar? Or a more ancient king of this bloody waste? Unremarked and unremembered.

Will you tell me anything interesting, O Relic Forgotten by Time, or will you grumble here in your own idleness, wasting away your eons, forever discarded by the world? Forever rejected by the present and the future as your mind petrifies with your body?

What reward would be worth naming his enemies in his own soul?

You could float around here for quite a while... But eventually, there's something sticking straight up from the lake. Just a glimmer of gold on the end of some sort of stick or rod, submerged but for a couple inches.

It's definitely Yamato, the call is strong now.

And the moment you touch it everything around you changes. The blood and statues gone in an instant and in its place a void of bright blue light, almost blinding. There's nothing else here - except a tall, indistinct figure standing a little ways off, his back to you. He stares upward, quiet a moment before speaking loud enough to be heard.

Oh. Well now he's speaking in Ancient, too. His form seems to become a bit more clear, and with that link from the sageo, you can feel a little bit of the pain here subside.

Me? No, not in this moment, what...gives you a reason to keep struggling.

He turns to give you a small smile, but before you can actually see his face, the vision disappears as instantaneously as it formed, and you are left standing where you were, sword in hand. It makes you feel strong, and there's a rumble through the ground.

You've acquired Yamato and seem to inherently know how to use it. Notably the sageo attached is the one you gave him.

[He is not prone to kissing swords, but this once, with only demon kings attendant, he will place a soft kiss on Yamato's hilt. And the sageo... Is cute. That does make him blush when he notes it.

But he will teleport back to the library to join everyone else I guess.]

The demon kings think you're gross and stupid. Vergil is stupid and useless. You're just as bad, get lost.
