Vergil's heart game r2

You feel weak, your body won't move no matter how you try, and you are falling, away from everything you know and love. Away from everything you need to accomplish. If you could just reach out, maybe you could hold on to it, claw your way back. But it's a useless endeavour, you fall unconscious, and your mind goes blank except for poetry and a familiar voice.

O mother Enitharmon, wilt thou bring forth other sons?
To cause my name to vanish, that my place may not be found,
For I am faint with travail,
Like the dark cloud disburden'd in the day of dismal thunder.

My roots are brandish'd in the heavens, my fruits in earth beneath
Surge, foam and labour into life, first born and first consum'd!
Consumed and consuming!
Then why shouldst thou, accursed mother, bring me into life?

You wake on the ground in a cave, cold, wet, and sticky. It smells of rotting flesh. Your objective is clear, but you can't recall a name or face. Nothing else about your memory of him is changed, but for some reason the name "Vergil" just won't come to you, and you couldn't describe how he looks if your life depended on it. But at least your body starts to respond to your will, slowly regaining enough strength to carry on.

As I might imbue an enchantment with aether, the armor is imbued with his soul. Tiny pieces of it, torn from him by force while a captive.

An interesting test in the limits of a soul's capacity to function while being literally rent asunder, but... Gruesome. Something I wish you to be braced for at least. I cannot See what it looks like, but I doubt it is anything but agonizing.

Lovely.

We will have to take him with. I will not leave him alone. How are our chances of success?

With you and this sword I would wager we will do just fine. On my own, unarmed I did barely escape.

[But he's not exactly suited to taking on a bunch of melee alone.]

Very well.

[He stands to his full height still cradling Vergil in one of his larger arms, but he doesn't need it to spell cast, but he does gently shake him awake.]

'Tis time we put them to rest.

[It's fine to bring small Vergil to the fight right he's got them there! Anyway, he'll offer the kid the sword at least. He may know how to use it now but it still belongs in Vergil's hands.]

At some point he's turned back to his human form, and waking up to immediately having his sword in his hands is, surprising. "--Thank you. Are we going somewhere now?"

[By way of an answer, Hades dispels the ward to the south.]

We should have no fear of failure with our combined might.

Mm. We shall end their suffering and return what is yours.

He still looks incredibly wary of that door. But at least he nods. They should be okay with all three of them, right? Yeah. "If you're sure."

He's brave!! So he leads the way in. He's protecting them. The piles of broken armour have only seemed to increase in the meantime...
