Vergil's heart game r4
You feel weak, your body won't move no matter how you try, and you are falling, away from everything you know and love. Away from everything you need to accomplish. If you could just reach out, maybe you could hold on to it, claw your way back. But it's a useless endeavour, you fall unconscious, and your mind goes blank except for poetry and a familiar voice.
O mother Enitharmon, wilt thou bring forth other sons?
To cause my name to vanish, that my place may not be found,
For I am faint with travail,
Like the dark cloud disburden'd in the day of dismal thunder.
My roots are brandish'd in the heavens, my fruits in earth beneath
Surge, foam and labour into life, first born and first consum'd!
Consumed and consuming!
Then why shouldst thou, accursed mother, bring me into life?
You wake on the ground in a cave, cold, wet, and sticky. It smells of rotting flesh. Your objective is clear, but you can't recall a name or face. Nothing else about your memory of him is changed, but for some reason the name "Vergil" just won't come to you, and you couldn't describe how he looks if your life depended on it. But at least your body starts to respond to your will, slowly regaining enough strength to carry on.
Unless you're Glory, in which case the rest is the same, but you wake in a library.

Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
There's also a small photo album, pocket size, set on top of the shelf.
Vergil tries to keep from looking at Dante.
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
She picks up the photo album to look at it.]
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
It's full, a little too full, some of the photos don't have a sleeve to go in so they're just loose in the centre. It's Nero and his family, both Kyrie and the kids as well as Shrike (no Jason, all my friends hate Jason), and then there's Glory and Raven, there's a few candid shots of the twins both fighting like petulant children and just casually sitting around in the motor home laying on each other. All combination of Spardas together, even Pistol makes a few appearances with everyone.
But that's just half the album, the other half is Five, Alexander and Cosmo, with guest appearances from other Baritones, Hargreeves, and Levity. Some look like they were taken in another world entirely, everything is very different, and the people there all wear masks like Cosmo's, and robes.
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
...This is nice.

Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
Or, more than hoping... We can make it this way.

Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
[she keeps hold of the album, but straightens and turns back to look at Dante]
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
When you get close, it's immediately apparent that he isn't asleep. There's blood all around his chair, flowing down from the wound through his back. It's a thin and short mark, but based on how much blood there is, it clearly goes all the way through his heart and back out his chest. One of his hands is clutching something, while an amulet lays face up in the puddle of blood.
There's a flashing voicemail indicator by the telephone, and, you guessed it, more garbage strewn about. A pizza box that's still mostly full and not yet cold. There's uh, a lot of olives on this. There's also a framed photo of a blonde woman, smiling softly.
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
surely he can survive being stabbed, though, so she's going to try to pull him upright]
Dante!
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
Vergil, meanwhile, is clutching the book in his hands, about ready to cry, but fighting it off.
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
[she's going to pick up both the amulet Dante dropped and the one already on the floor]
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
And the Vergil with you seems to realise too. He looks up, over to you despite his dead brother. "Ah-"
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
She glances over at Vergil, but for the moment attempts to put Dante's amulet back around his neck.]
...Don't be stupid. Dante wouldn't die this easily.
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
But he does gain some confidence. Yeah, in reality Dante wouldn't be dead just from being stabbed, and he knows it's the mirror world, so it definitely isn't real. "Take both the amulets, they're supposed to go together."
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
[she relaxes slightly at the acknowledgment this isn't real, removes the amulet again and closes her hand over both of them together]
Vergil.
[just enjoying the feeling of his name for a moment, then]
...It'll be okay. You know that, right?
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
Hearing his name seems to make him happy enough, but when he sees the lack of body, his nod is firm. "I know. I'm fine."
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
Good.
[...Now let's go take a look at the weapons.]

Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
She doesn't take a sword, though.]
Alright, that feels better.
Re: MIRROR WORLD: DEVIL MAY CRY
"I think that's everything here, we can go back to the cave now."
And if so, he'll go ahead and lead the way.
