This final apple, it's conspicuously opaque. No trick of the light. Nothing inside, nothing to see here.
It's almost laughable, this ploy.
Righteous is the heart... that feels love...
Everything goes still as your sword plunges into the fruit.
Then, a loud CRACK! echoes into the air as the Saviour's face begins to split apart. All of him starts to crumble at once, falling to pieces around the trunk of a great winding tree that had taken root inside of it.
Then, as everything else falls to dust, the final apple splits apart - revealing a young Nero in its core, still teenaged in years with feathered hair and a demonic right arm.
He takes her hand with his own proper, flesh and blood demon arm - the scales are tough, but warm, with long nails that he takes care not to dig into her palm.
"I'm not the true Heart. I'm-- I guess you could say his sense of what's right."
Sheepishly, he rubs his nose, trying to cover the faint blush on his cheeks.
Re: LEVEL ?
[ doing this while covered in apple juice is going to feel silly afterward. one more gem, though. right in the center of the chest. ]
Know when to stay down. You're done.
[ and she's going to grab her sword out of its forehead or wherever it fell after exploding that jewel and drive her sword into the Saviour's chest.

He collapses... also covered in apple juice.
Re: LEVEL ?
[ she runs over—not caring about being sticky—to kneel by his side. ]
Are you hurt?
Re: LEVEL ?
"I'm good... what happened?"
Re: LEVEL ?
I think it's probably some kind of metaphor for the pressures of society and family?
Re: LEVEL ?
"Great, metaphors. Y'know, I thought that heaven fruit was supposed t'make you feel better."
Re: LEVEL ?
[ she offers him a hand, although also she's like. probably a little stiff from getting lasered and tossed around a lot. ]
...well, maybe the nectar of the gods isn't meant for mortals, or something like that. But you're here now.
...also you're. Younger?

Re: LEVEL ?
Well—even if you're not the true heart, I'm glad you're here.
Is there... is there somewhere to go, from here?
Re: LEVEL ?
Sorry, his train of thought is scrambled right now. He just stares bashfully at their hands, still clasped together.
"...I've wanted to hold your hand like this for a long time."
Re: LEVEL ?
she gives his hand a gentle squeeze. it's nice. warm.
...and also leans down to give him a kiss on the cheek, brushing his slightly shaggy hair out of the way. ]
I'd happily do this for a very long time.
Re: LEVEL ?
"...Me too."
His hand starts to glow, and that light spreads until his whole body is faintly shining.
"But you need to keep going. You're almost there."
With that, his body dissolves into red light - which all rushes into Shrike's book, absorbed like all the statues before it.
Something shifts from under the rubble, before a new pillar of light shoots up, spilling out from a portal to the next level.
The end is near
