Nemesis Heart - R2

[The first time you try to open your eyes, there is nothing but red.]

[Still, Nemesis has never not been badass, and not he can geek out without her jdging him, so. Please don't mind him just crawling up the mech to the shoulders to check out the artillery loadout]

[They look like they could launch at any time. In fact, upon closer examination, one of the missiles seems to be missing. There's also some faint cracking over the cockpit glass... Weird. Maybe it was supposed to come with battle damage?

Hey, actually from here, you have a pretty good view of the park--some rides off to the south, and the castle spires to the north, and shops inbetween. Straight down, you can see something sitting on the cockpit seat.]

[...well, that seems bad. Battle damage is only cool on action figures, not on real mechs that have to get to a rendeavous. Note to self: find a missle and something to repair the glass]

[For now, though, he leans in to check what's in the cockpit]

[The cockpit is closed! Otherwise it would be all grimy from children and passers-by (and difficult to climb up).

Perhaps you can open it.]

[Perhaps he can]

[He looks for a manual catch-release on the front, the way he's remembered there being on his own gauntlets]

[There is a little touch panel around the bottom, just about where the liver would be, if the suit were a person.

Roll...spirit?? +1d for expertise in these suits your mother designed]

[She didn't design Nemesis, but he's looked at her work on Team Alpha and other suits enough that the similarities can get him started]

[And amazingly, he makes that with two successes, opening the cockpit like it's nbd]

[The hatch pops open easy as anything, the airtight seal giving a faint hiss as it breaks]

[The cockpit is more complicated than Hurricane's...in that there is actually room for any controls. There is something that looks like cloth crumpled on the seat; brown leather, perhaps]

[He peers around with interest; he's never seen it from the inside, after all]

[He does reach out to take whatever's on the seat, though]

[There are simple controls--a couple manual releases for purging armor, backpack, the extra plasma stores that keep you from being able to fully insert your left arm, if that had been something you'd wanted to do. Some control sticks for basic movement and space for a very simple heads-up display. A thick cord connected to the chair around neck height, not completely unlike one of those old speaker jacks.]

[Reaching for what's on the seat, you find it's a brown bomber jacket, the leather soft and weathered with maybe thirty years of hard living.

It smells like hair oil and cigarettes and something else that twists in your gut, painfully familiar. But even if it wasn't given to you, you wonder if you'd feel stronger if you wore it.]

[It's a good smell - familiar. Comforting, against the anxiety he's trying to ignore about the countdown and that castle in the distance]

[He hesitates, then pulls it on, tugging it close around him]

[Hesitates again, then closes up the cockpit for now. The suit has to get to the castle in time for the rendezvous, but he can come back for it before then]

[The jacket is a little oversized and old, but warm. You feel a little stronger.]

[The hatch closes up neatly as anything.

The day is still young! What will you do?]

[Well, it isn't time for the castle yet... better head to the south to check out those rides]

[You can certainly take a walk]

[He sets out, valiantly ignoring the smell of food cooking, since it looks like Gold has that covered, to pass the food stalls and go south]
