At first, there is nothing.

And then there’s a voice, saying:

I need your help.

… look, I don’t have time to explain. Hold this.

And something, ready or not, is thrust into your hand. Maybe it’s a pen, or a brooch, or a watch or a phone, or anything at all so long as it’s small enough to hold, and looks too important to lose.

Maybe you try to object, but a small, winged creature wreathed in iridescent sparkles darts into your view, and clasps your hands, and curls your fingers tight about the object in them.

You’re just, the creature says, going to have to trust me. Now: raise your hand, and say:

Power of a Dreaming Star – Metamorphose!!

Maybe you know these tropes, or maybe you don’t.
Maybe you’re about to protest that no, you couldn’t possibly, this is ridiculous and you’ve got the wrong person—

But you can’t resist the call. Nobody ever can.

And then?

Then? It’s not dark any more.

And an awful lot seems to be happening at once.

So do you! It's nice seeing so many familiar faces when... so much is happening.

It's a lot, isn't it? Have you ever done one of these particular kinds of games before?

No, I don't think so. [Oh, but then--] Have you?

It's not my first time, no. There's a goal, to find what they call the "true heart..." It usually involves investigating and sometimes fixing things along the way. ... But doing things here can affect the person whose heart we're in. One time.... did you ever meet Joker?

[Hm. This is all very good to know.]

No, but I've heard of him.

I guess he was slightly before your time. At any rate--the Producers used his heart for one of these games once... to show us the things he was struggling with, and his internal feelings.

Someone... thought he'd be better off without an aspect of his heart because of how it related to some trauma he had experienced and eliminated it. Consequently he forgot the memories related to it had ever happened.

Oh... that's...

[Serenity is quiet for a long moment. That's a lot to consider.]

This is incredibly serious, then.

It's higher stakes than a first glance might lead one to believe, yes. That said--I think in most cases, the changes that have been made have been positive ones. I think, as long as we're careful, it'll be okay.

It seems like we'll be able to contact one another too. So... I'm sure as long as we work together, we'll be able to help.

Right! With all of us working together, I'm sure it'll work out just fine.

The scanner Michelle gave me can help locate hidden items or dangers so if you run into anything you're unsure about... just give me a call!

That should be quite useful.... In that case, I won't hesitate; we'll cover more ground for sure if we all break into small groups until we find something of interest.
