At first, there is nothing.

And then there’s a voice, saying:

I need your help.

     … look, I don’t have time to explain. Hold this.

And something, ready or not, is thrust into your hand. Maybe it’s a pen, or a brooch, or a watch or a phone, or anything at all so long as it’s small enough to hold, and looks too important to lose.

Maybe you try to object, but a small, winged creature wreathed in iridescent sparkles darts into your view, and clasps your hands, and curls your fingers tight about the object in them.

     You’re just, the creature says, going to have to trust me. Now: raise your hand, and say:

Power of a Dreaming Star – Metamorphose!!

Maybe you know these tropes, or maybe you don’t.
Maybe you’re about to protest that no, you couldn’t possibly, this is ridiculous and you’ve got the wrong person—

But you can’t resist the call. Nobody ever can.

And then?

     Then? It’s not dark any more.

         And an awful lot seems to be happening at once.

If there's something troubling her, I couldn't say what. But... there's something in here that shouldn't - it's the flowers, basically. They're all over the place.

[ Glancing around. FLOWERS HUH. Is there anything in here to cut with? He'll begin searching the desks perhaps for anything that pings him. ]

What do you recommend we do? I don't think I would mind a little gardening.

Well, the light should take care of most of it.

Oh, before you go, there's... well, the others have kinda been at them, but I've got a few things that might help.

[[She turns back to the school desk. On it are a number of items: a scanner, an hourglass, and a bottle on a chain - it says to help with healing.]

He goes to look at the items...! But also what the heck is this one thing (the scanner?) modern tech is hard....

Though he certainly is considering the bottle... ]

Well, this stuff is mostly for emergencies. But if you're ever in a pinch, they should help you out.

[You examine the items. They are:

[A single pink-purple tinted eyeglass with a silver frame, worn clipped into place over one ear. A small switch on the arm can be toggled to perform an instant scan of the immediate area. Once the scan is complete, the wearer will be alerted to the presence of any hidden items or dangers.

[A finely-wrought golden hourglass full of shimmering, pink-white sand, suspended on a golden chain that can be worn about the waist. When the hourglass is turned and the sands are flowing, the bearer can briefly reverse the flow of time.

[A spherical bottle full of shimmering blue-purple liquid, suspended on a silver chain that can be worn about the waist. The enchanted waters in this bottle can be used once to heal the wounds of the bearer, or of a fallen friend.

[Serenity is also considering her choice at the moment.
