Wednesday's Heart Game » Session One
At first, there is nothing.
And then there’s a voice, saying:
… look, I don’t have time to explain. Hold this.
And something, ready or not, is thrust into your hand. Maybe it’s a pen, or a brooch, or a watch or a phone, or anything at all so long as it’s small enough to hold, and looks too important to lose.
Maybe you try to object, but a small, winged creature wreathed in iridescent sparkles darts into your view, and clasps your hands, and curls your fingers tight about the object in them.
You’re just, the creature says, going to have to trust me. Now: raise your hand, and say:
Maybe you know these tropes, or maybe you don’t.
Maybe you’re about to protest that no, you couldn’t possibly, this is ridiculous and you’ve got the wrong person—
And then?
Then? It’s not dark any more.
And an awful lot seems to be happening at once.
And then there’s a voice, saying:
I need your help.

Power of a Dreaming Star – Metamorphose!!
Maybe you know these tropes, or maybe you don’t.
Maybe you’re about to protest that no, you couldn’t possibly, this is ridiculous and you’ve got the wrong person—
But you can’t resist the call. Nobody ever can.
And then?

BOSS ACTION
[She draws herself upright again, stretching out an imperious arm in a grand sweep.]
Chronos Bane--!!
[She misses Cobalt this time, but Serenity is not quite so fortunate. An ornate hourglass materializes around Serenity, trapping her in the lower globe. It doesn't hurt, it's just annoying... but she will find herself growing gradually weaker the longer she is trapped inside.
[You might be able to break the glass with an attack.]
no subject
[Shit! His first instinct is to break the hourglass and free Serenity, but maybe defeating Sword Lady will do the same thing.]
Let me see your face!!

BOSS REACTION
[She drops the sword.
[Those are the first signs. The second is that she catches fire.
[It all burns, and too quickly at that: the woman, the mansion, the flowers. The fire creeps up the stairway, it licks at the walls, at the statues on their plinths, but you cannot feel its heat, and it does not touch you. It burns with a clear white flame, and the smoke smells sweet and heady as incense. She stands, and she burns, and though her body twists in the flames, and shrivels, and blackens, and turns to ash, she doesn’t make a sound.
[And there’s light on your face, all of a sudden; if you tilt your head back, you can see it as the sky splits in two, bathing the ruined grounds in brilliant day.]
[
rip you absolutely trashed her. you are beasts]Re: BOSS REACTION
Oh wow.
Serenity, are you okay?
Re: BOSS REACTION
[She's stunned for a few seconds.]
We did it!!
Re: BOSS REACTION
I didn't have much time to look around before — what is this place?
Re: BOSS REACTION
Re: BOSS REACTION
Maybe we can poke around not that there's nobody trying to put swords in us.
[Time to SNOOP. What's around, now that everything burned up in purifying fire? What does this area look like now?]
Re: BOSS REACTION
[The walls, crumbling and smoke-blackened, are almost all that remains of the place. Charred struts of still-smoldering wood hint vaguely at the superstructure of a roof, and a mess of twisted metal is all that remains of what must have once been a massive stained-glass window, now nothing more than a memory. Shards of glass and chunks of rubble crunch and shatter beneath your feet as you walk, and the air hangs heavy with smoke.
[You cannot see any trace of the woman's body, but you can see smoke-blackened statues lining the hall.]

Re: BOSS REACTION
[Maybe being set on fire was not such a bad fate for this thing.]

[The edges are blunt, though, so you won't cut yourself trying to remove it from the statue. Symbolic, yes, possibly lethal to thoughtless bystanders, no.]

Re: BOSS REACTION
[It looks rather nice in the sunlight, actually. With the vines withering up, you can see what the statue in the centre is of: a woman with a trident, fighting a sea serpent. She resembles Wednesday, and she appears to be winning.]
Re: BOSS REACTION
There's no time for that! You have to come quickly--!!
There's a rift forming in the Quiet Street, and we're going to need your help!
