Stage

To the side of the main hall is a temporary stage. The pieces can all be swapped in or out, and there are a number of items backstage that can be utilized by performers. One of the current props is a large pot containing a gorse plant. Well, for given definition of “containing” - it’s beginning to crack along the sides...

A jovial silhouette stands nearby, although little can be seen of their features.

"Are you thinking of performing? Performances can really set the mood of the party. That's why there's screens set around the place for everyone to see when someone decides to do something. You should give it a try!"

From this vantage point, you can see a door that practically blends in with the wall.

A bell tolls from somewhere within the depths of the building. Two hours have passed...

With a final crack, the pot falls apart, dirt splattering on the stage. The gorse flower is free now, its roots continuing to grow at a steady pace.

The gorse flower is dead.

[They peer closely at you - specifically, at your badge.]

That’s interesting... You must be collecting Fragments, then!

...Aw, that's a mess. Well, if someone decides to use the stage, I suppose we'll have to clean it up...

[Much like the wild roses, the gorse immediately shrivels up, twisting inwards on itself until it crumbles to dust.

It’s a tough game, but you’re winning - your teammates, a ragtag group as they are compared to your clearly skilled opponents, keep managing to get the ball to you to score. It’s exhilarating, the cheers of the audience, the praise of your teammates. You’re the center of attention because of your abilities and it feels great. You can’t remember a recent time that felt any happier - like a ray of sunshine after so many grey and stormy days.

...Or at least, that's the scene you believe yourself to be in for a brief moment. Once you return to the present, you find yourself still standing on the stage. And, should you check, your badge is glowing faintly as one of the fragments goes from clear to silver.

As you near the stage, the Fragments suddenly dip, pointing at an untouched square of stage. Actually, on further examination - there’s a thin line forming a square in the wood, and a hole one might use to stick their fingers into the piece to pull it off.
