[Hmmm! Sure wonder what that might mean. Levity strokes Aera's hair soothingly, still trying to puzzle out what's going on. He wonders if a direct question would yield any answers.]
...Why must it be done in such a way that hurts you?
[Might as well be roundabout for now. It's symbolism, things are never simple.]
[Hmmmm intensifies!!! Levity does tend to watch people and their reactions a lot, so the strange distance in her tone doesn't escape him. But also, it could still mean a lot of things.]
...But must we, in truth? What happens if we don't?
[So that's what they call breaking into a cold sweat. Levity freezes; it feels as though time has slowed down to a snail pace, and he's suddenly hyperaware of everything. Unfortunately, that point of pressure on his back is the only thing he can focus on. But what can he do? Maybe if he had any fighting experience, he could do something, but he wouldn't know the first thing about fending off an attack from behind while being held by someone and also his opponent already got their weapon against his back.
Slowly, Levity lets go of Aera, his heart thundering, gently tries to push her away.]
I... I see. But you needn't get hurt, too.
[He's kind of terrified as fuck but look, it's not fair Aera has to get stabbed together with him? Unless that's a thing that's supposed to happen?? He's not exactly in the state to think about things thoroughly.]
[ that's very unfortunate for Levity! Aera's hold on him is very tight, and she stays even as a sword pushes all the way through Levity's chest, impaling both him and her on the same blade with one smooth thrust in. A normal blade wouldn't cut so cleanly, but it slices through them both like butter. ]
[Ok so shit's fucked, got it. Levity stares ahead of him as the blade pierces them both, feeling the stinging, burning pain as it slices through him, the frantic beating of his heart that tries to push blood through the severed veins and arteries even as it fills his mouth. He tries to breathe, but it doesn't come. A part of him does manage to note that Aera holds onto him even as blade plunges into her as well, but that realization is in a kind of... distant, light-headed way. He'll have to think about it later, if there is one.]
[ Yeah shit is fucked! At least, this is probably not one of the worst ways to die. With the amount of blood spilling out of him, he's not going to be conscious for much longer -- especially as the person behind him wrenches the blade harshly out, with a rough, taunting laugh. It's not Absinthe's voice; it's someone else's, having the time of their life, apparently. ]
[He's not quite so stupid not to have realized that the torture dungeon was likely for the non-sexy* kind of torture, so yes, this is not the worst way to die here.
*terms and conditions apply
He's fading fast indeed, but Levity still tries to at least turn his head to look at the attacker. He has no idea who it is, but even with his friendly nature he doesn't like them - to the point that he thinks he might not have liked them even if they didn't stab him.]
[ there's a man who Levity's not seen before, who he can see with his last few moments before his consciousness fades... and all becomes dark.
-- It's only for a moment, before he's returned to the start. His clothes and body will be intact, just with a nice big scar for where the sword went through him! ]
Re: WILDERNESS BAR
[ Aera sounds mournful, and if she's not stopped she'll move to wrap her arms around him. ]
Re: WILDERNESS BAR
Are you scared?
Re: WILDERNESS BAR
No. I know what must be done, but... it is difficult still.

Re: WILDERNESS BAR
[ Aera murmurs, her tone a bit robotic -- as if reading from a script, and she'd like to say something else. ]
Re: WILDERNESS BAR
...But must we, in truth? What happens if we don't?
Re: WILDERNESS BAR
[ Aera is firmer in that. ]
You cannot defy your fate.
[ There's almost a desperation to her voice, now, and she wraps her arms around him all the more tightly --
There's a blade point pressing against his back from behind. Her palms are flat against his back, so it can't be her. ]
