"Most likely you just know her by a different name," Adalet offers, reasonably. She does not look like she especially enjoys being reasonable, but she also looks like she's used to it.
"Temptation of Angels, remember?" Adalet's voice has gone soft, and tired. She doesn't look more than 35 or so, but she has the quality of someone very, very old.
"It isn't the only reason she Fell, but Leli... back when she was Leliel, she was already looking for a sword like Kiri.
"—And this is the first timeline she Fell like that. I know, since I've been to them."
[At least the duplicates of herself and Adora have primed her for the idea of multiple universes and timelines.]
Uh huh. Sounds like your problem, not mine. Maybe you should've done a better job of breaking the sword if you hated the idea of her being around so much.
"...Very true." Both Adalet and Harlowe look like they agree with that one, in fact.
"Anyway." Adalet straightens her shoulders, trying to return to businesslike.
"My apologies for getting caught up in some of my own... history. We didn't have long after finding out Kiri is Temptation of Angels before we—" She pauses; clears her throat. "—before we were separated from Leli. I suppose it's still rather fresh."
Around your feet, there are little white flowers starting to bloom: snowdrops.
"That is not our nature in this place. In the end, we can be no more than how she remembers us."
("We kill things," Harlowe interjects, as if to clarify.)
"This sort of Botany requires more nuance than we've been granted." You can definitely hear the capitalization in the way she says Botany. "And the only Miraculous Energy here is what Hellfire herself can still provide."
A beat, and Adalet raises her brows, then adds drily, "You know, like those Scars she gave you."
Re: CHANCEL LELI
"Treasure"? What are you talking about?
[Ignoring the introduction and not offering one of her own because manners are for losers.]
Re: CHANCEL LELI
A beat, and he nods at your scar-made-of-flowers. "...More or less literally. Call it being invited, as far as I'm concerned."

"Do you know any cursed, shattered swords?"
Re: CHANCEL LELI
What do you know about cursed swords? Seems like useful information.
Re: CHANCEL LELI
For the first time, Adalet looks... almost uncomfortable. "...And I suppose I led Leli right to her."
Harlowe watches her with his same stony expression, and says nothing.
Re: CHANCEL LELI
Re: CHANCEL LELI
This doesn't seem like the first time Harlowe has given this kind of explanation.
"And Leli is..." He actually hesitates a moment. "...She's a Fallen Angel. Devil of the Night, now."
Re: CHANCEL LELI
I mean, you called yourselves her family, or whatever. So what do you care if she finds the dumb sword?

Re: CHANCEL LELI
Harlowe's tone is as stony as before: the question could be rhetorical—or maybe not.

"Why are you here, then?"
Re: CHANCEL LELI
Re: CHANCEL LELI
"And that is a choice."
Re: CHANCEL LELI
What, you think I was supposed to just sit in that weird room and wait––for what? Hoping someone would come let me out?
Re: CHANCEL LELI
A beat. "That sword, and apparently all these extra flowers she's got now."
