You can hear the distant sounds of the station creaking due to shockwaves from the fighting outside. What is going on in this galaxy? Well, it’s not very important to you. What’s important is surviving.

Well I have no desire to run an asteroid for no profit and likely death. We could steal the tax collector's ship.

I do not see why not. Saddling ourselves with burden will only weigh us down, if not utterly kill us. A risk is fine.

We can kidnap the tax collector as well. A hostage is always useful.

Well. Or we could see if he has any useful knowledge we could exploit for raiding the treasury. It really depends on how finances are handled in space.

It is how a government runs. A portion of the people's wealth is taxed, and the government allocates those finances to paying civil servants and doing civil works.

Thus is the ideal at any rate, in a world without corruption that relies on money and finance to run, which I've never seen both in conjunction.
