[You wake alone with your unit in what appears to be a dressing room. There's nothing on the costume racks right now, but you have vanity seats and a couch to chill on if you like.

On a table in the center of the room, there is an ornate metal box with three slots on top. The slots are labeled with the names of three other units: BAD END=DEAD END, future is now, & BARiTONES. Next to the box a laminated copy of the IC rules is taped down, and beside it lie four cards:

♦ a green card with a picture of two linked rings and the word "WED"
♦ a blue card with a picture of a rose and the word "BED"
♦ a red card with a picture of a guillotine and the word "BEHEAD"
♦ a purple card with a picture of two circling arrows and the word "INSTEAD"

I would wed future is now, bed BAD END=DEAD END, and behead BARiTONES. I might send the "Instead" card to future is now as well, since it's very unlikely that BARiTONES would receive a card worth taking and BAD END=DEAD END has had the unfortunate luck of being killed threefold in games like these before.

If we send future is now "wed", I suppose that guarantees we'll get it back, too. future is now sending BARiTONES something good is pretty dependent on one person there, whereas BARiTONES trying to send future is now a light card would probably be the work of at least two.

I wish BAD END had some better luck with these things, though.

But most likely, their luck will manifest in other units playing "Instead" on them. Then whatever card we send them would be pointless.

They always get it rough.

So wed future is now, bed BAD END, behead BARiTONES, instead on future is now to take their best card for our worst?

Well, we could wed BAD END=DEAD END and bed future is now, if you prefer it.

We could also use Instead on BAD END=DEAD END in the other way.

I don't really like hurting other units, but for this game, I don't want to lose too badly, either.

. . . I just wonder how we're ranked to other units. Our reputation as the healer unit will surely mean we'll escape multiple "beheads", so we don't need to worry about being placed last . . .

I wonder if we have to play "instead" at all.
