[You wake alone with your unit in what appears to be a dressing room. There's nothing on the costume racks right now, but you have vanity seats and a couch to chill on if you like.

On a table in the center of the room, there is an ornate metal box with three slots on top. The slots are labeled with the names of three other units: Taisho Roman Revolution, WILD CITY, & ☆ZRAEL. Next to the box a laminated copy of the IC rules is taped down, and beside it lie four cards:

♦ a green card with a picture of two linked rings and the word "WED"
♦ a blue card with a picture of a rose and the word "BED"
♦ a red card with a picture of a guillotine and the word "BEHEAD"
♦ a purple card with a picture of two circling arrows and the word "INSTEAD"

Yes. My father is here, but before that... Five agreed that Taisho would continue not to harm us in games if it was avoidable. This is avoidable, right?

That's vague somethin' awful, ain't it? 'Avoidable' s'gotta weight against anyfolk on the unit what want to protect their own, it ain't a promise one can make all on their onelisome.

Taisho also have others with family who are here. Five has brothers on Wild City and Lilis, Vergil has a son on Avante. I don't know which way they'll decide, but... just because he's my father doesn't mean I should just step aside. That isn't fair. We almost never come up against Taisho in this sort of thing and even if we do they always choose to protect us. Can we say the same of Wild City and Zrael?

Now that ain't fair, Renny. Ya can't honestly say yer gonna feel any better 'bout hurting on yer papa if he didn't return the favour, right? So sayin' anyfolk else's hurts don't count 'cause you don't think the other unit's gonna return the favour ain't kind at all.

I'm sorry, Nova-chan. But... she's said it before. She thinks - her whole unit, she thinks we'll just think it's all right, because it's ☆ZRAEL...

I'm not saying that we should hurt them, but I refuse to hurt my father's unit. How do you know that they'll treat us with the same consideration? At least Taisho I know wouldn't do it because Five promised me that pep was safe from them even while my parents were gone.

I don't. But - with the line-up we have, she might try. I don't think there's anyone on the other units she'd risk herself for, and - and I don't trust Five-san. I certainly can't trust him over Sabre-kun, I - Ren-chan, I've never trusted him! I don't know what Kaguya-chan told you about her unit, but it sounded like she and Shu were the only ones holding them back sometimes... and now they're gone.

I refuse to hurt them and I'd rather choose my father over someone I barely know. I'm sorry. But you bring up a good point that we may need the purple card in case we can't trust Zrael or Wild City. I know Taisho won't hurt us because my father wouldn't allow it, regardless of any promises Five made to me.

So... Is this always how it'll be?

I've made promises too, Ren-chan. Are they always going to be less important than yours? Because I don't have my family here? Because I'm not - I never got lucky enough to have anybody I know here at all? Now that Levi-kun's gone, and Hiryuu-chan... do my friends just not count?

It's not just about this game, Ren-chan. It's about every game. He's not going to stop being your father. What happens the next time we have to do this? And the next time, and the next time, and the time after that? Because it's not going to stop. It's never going to stop!

I'm not trying to be difficult, but he's my father. I've lost people too, Wednesday. Kestrel. My mother. Yugi-kun. I can't just stop caring about my father just because you're asking me to. If I'm being unfair then so are you.

It sounds like our relationship with Taisho is much steadier than our relationship with ZRAEL. I don't really have a preference, but as long as we send one "wed" and the other "bed," it shouldn't be as bad as it could be, right?

Since we already know for a fact that a unit is going to die here, I don't think we can make any more allowances than that. If we're going to use the "instead" card, we can at least use it on WILD CITY to take their best card in exchange for our worst one so that neither of those two end up in dead last... hopefully.

But that's just it! It isn't, Sky-san...! We've had links to ☆ZRAEL for a long time now, we've - Doodleman-san. You never met Rise-chan... but - he loved her. He protected us before...

Is it gonna be fair to say one's stronger than the other, though? Renny an' Birdy's feelings –– they're both true. I don't wanna set it up so's we always gotta say one's gonna come afore the other.

Then... if everyone does think I pick Taisho too much... then we can use our "bed" card for Taisho then.
