[You wake alone with your unit in what appears to be a dressing room. There's nothing on the costume racks right now, but you have vanity seats and a couch to chill on if you like.

On a table in the center of the room, there is an ornate metal box with three slots on top. The slots are labeled with the names of three other units: LiliS, Heart Soldier Senshi, & AlcheME!. Next to the box a laminated copy of the IC rules is taped down, and beside it lie four cards:

♦ a green card with a picture of two linked rings and the word "WED"
♦ a blue card with a picture of a rose and the word "BED"
♦ a red card with a picture of a guillotine and the word "BEHEAD"
♦ a purple card with a picture of two circling arrows and the word "INSTEAD"

LiliS will play to survive, and will almost certainly give their "bed" card to AlcheME.

...it depends. Strategically, it'd be prudent of them. LiliS and Heart Soldier are probably worst-off in this group, I think?

If a triple behead means corruptions, then-- yeah, they should.

But there's no way Heart would use their Instead to save themselves.

No. They're probably more likely to use it to try to save someone else.

...hopefully they're aware that we're likely to do well out of all the people in this group, but if they swap their best card with ours or AlcheME's worst, that would... well, only give them one extra point, at least. I don't know if they're likely to try and save LiliS.

You think they're aware of how much Lilis eats it? There's been a lot of new Hearts.

Hurricane and D.Va have probably been there the longest at this point, haven't they? They're the ones who would know, but I couldn't be sure if they're here...

...and probably, if those two are going to want to save anyone, they'll be on our unit.

...I can't imagine they'd send us wed, AND waste an Instead on us, though. Actually-- I think they'd send their Instead to whoever they beheaded.

Unless they're trying to get us three "wed" cards so that we can heal a unit...

...I'm trying to decide if I believe they'd think of that. But sending their best card to swap with someone they beheaded does sound like them.

...That sounds more like an alcheME play than it does an Heart one.

I doubt the Heart kids can stomach the idea of choosing the hurt anyone - not if they can take it back. But AlcheME could, for the greater good.

...that's true. They're decent at seeing the bigger picture, when they're serious.

...I wonder what happens if we all tie. Not that I want to tempt fate, I just wish I knew either way.

I have no idea if we should try and save someone with "instead." It's risky.

Kohime would only be willing to do it if it's used on Heart. And Hawkasa doesn't wanna get hurt.

I mean, I know how bad I feel, so. I can't imagine. If it were just me—well, I'd probably try and take back our "Behead" vote with an "Instead" card, but not with the young ones here.

This isn't a situation anyone should ever be in.

If they end up with three beheads, then-- fuck.

I think we should try t'toughen Hawkasa up a bit. I just dunno how. Avoiding pain forever's not gonna be possible.

I don't know how, either. There's not much way to do it outside of... well, experience.

That means we gotta accept that we can't soften the blow for him every time, then.

I just hate knowing that they have to accept these things at all, eventually. Especially since he's from a place that seems to have been kind.

That just makes it harder for him to adjust.

He's told me that he's all right with alternating which of his friends to protect, at least. So he can make concessions, if the chips are down.
