Graveyard
Who: You!
Where: The Graveyard
When: TBD - Days 2 thru end
[ Wow! You're dead!
. . . If "dead" means perfectly alright and intact (other injuries notwithstanding). You did witness the very last moments of what would be your death, but it's like you were yoinked away and put into a very safe place . . . which is a courtyard on top of the mansion. Here, you can see everyone down in the courtyard, and there are speakers for you to be able to hear what they're talking about from this distance.
The rooftop courtyard is pretty expansive, similar to the gardens below—one side is a garden maze where you can find places to rest or food to eat (it's probably safe to eat, it all looks fresh), and the other side is a wall of LCD screens, fourteen in total, so you can witness what happens in whatever rooms. There are also couches available for you
Between the garden maze and the LCD screens is a trapdoor that cannot be opened without certain authorization via QR code.
The rules on your phone have updated. If you're a chosen candidate, you'll find your name on the list provided. You'll be able to go through the trapdoor with the QR code your phone provides you. If you are signed up, even if you try to stay away, you will find yourself going to the trapdoor at the appointed time.
Your powers are on, and you'll find whatever weapons you were carrying before to be available to you. However, you cannot escape from the rooftop no matter how hard you try, and you cannot destroy any of the rooftop. It just seems to be indestructible. ]

... He knows it would have been selfish of him to do it.
He rubs her back, trying to be comforting. ]
... I won't.
But I want a future with you in it too.

He probably doesn't even have half a clue what he's doing to her, saying something like that. And that just makes it that much more frustrating.
But there's no telling what will happen to her when her time here is up. No guarantees. An uncertain future.
She pulls back sharply, releasing him.
And grabs the front of his shirt and drags him back, kissing him fiercely, in a moment of poor impulse control and emotions flaring. It's too rough and far too short to be any sort of romantic. If anything it's fierce and desperate-- like the act of someone who knows she can't have... can't hold on to... what she wants.
Half a second passes and she drops him, eyes widening as it sinks in what she did.
And she bolts.
Bye.]

?????????
?!!!!?!?!!??!?!?!?!
What is this? What is going on? I mean, he can tell he's being kissed right now, it's just the last thing he was expecting and his brain is shortcircuiting at the realisation that Crane is kissing him. She's kissing him. She's kissing him! What is this supposed to mean? She likes him? She like-likes him?!
It happens too fast for him to try to grab hold of her and kiss her back. He's wanted to do that ever since he realised that he loves her. When she drops him, Lark tries to get his bearings and push himself up to run after her. ]
Crane, wait!

[She panics, tries to run faster, cursing under her breath.]
Dammit... dammit
[Why in the hell did she have to go and do that? She'd tried so hard to ignore it. The fuck was wrong with her?]
Just. Forget it.

I-I'm not just going to forget about it! Come on, talk to me?

[It's a crap line and she knows it. But it's all she has on short notice. In her mind, there's only one thing that could be coming and she really... doesn't want to hear it.]
It's... it's fine--
no subject
[ He curls his fingers around her hand. "It's fine", she says, when she clearly isn't. ]
... When I told you about him, were you ... [ Upset? Jealous?
... He feels like an idiot, for not having noticed sooner. ]
no subject
...what does it matter?
[She feels Seen and vulnerable and she hates it.]

... He runs his thumb over her hand, as he tries to find the words to what he wants to say. There's a part of him that thinks, surely anyone who likes you that way is mistaken, as soon as they see your ugly insides, when they realise you've somehow ended up wearing some pleasant-seeming skin and you've tricked them, they'll change their mind; you probably aren't who she thinks you are because you've changed here, soon enough she'll see you're a disappointment --
But none of that will reassure her. If he doesn't say anything, she'll always think she never had a chance with him, right? ]
Because you matter to me, and I love you.

Lan jiao!
[A deep breath and-- whether she wants it or not, those words have a deep effect on her. Impossible, she tells herself. But her heart is twisted and tugged by the thought. But admitting she wants that... letting herself believe...
Her face is red and her eyes are wet.]
...Paiseh...

[She's breathless, but she keeps going until she's good and truly finished-- a rush of the unpleasant jealous feelings she'd pretended were "fine" because he was happy.]
But you-- you're still... you're all I have. But you're not-- you're not mine. You never have been, never will be. I... I get it.

There's still this small surge of -- indignation, he supposes, that she thought he'd just move on without her. That there were people who were more important to him than her, when he's always kept her in his heart. He's done a bad job of reassuring her otherwise, huh?
He reaches out to wipe at her tears. ]
... You know, you make it sound like you've become less important to me. Or that I've ever stopped being yours.

[Even the part of her that was confident wouldn't say he'd ever been hers-- but the way he says it, it's like it's some obvious thing she's missed. There's really no arguing... or thinking, for that matter. He kisses her and it's soft and sweeter than the hideous thing she'd tried earlier.
...and he doesn't let go.
Shock becomes fluster becomes confusion, and together the three combine to leave her embarrassed. Part of her has that instinct to run. Stop now before it all falls apart. Before she can somehow ruin it.
...but she doesn't. Her hand, hovering cluelessly in midair, finally moves. It reaches for him gently. She remembers. The one thing-- the one person-- she can trust is him.
Her hand holds him tighter and pulls him in, kissing back for a long, slow moment. When she pulls her head back, it's just an inch, to utter in a breathless, anxious voice.]
I love you... you stupid idiot-- I love you.

I love you too. My heart has room for two people.

I... okay...
