Graveyard

Who: You!
Where: The Graveyard
When: TBD - Days 2 thru end

[ Wow! You're dead!

. . . If "dead" means perfectly alright and intact (other injuries notwithstanding). You did witness the very last moments of what would be your death, but it's like you were yoinked away and put into a very safe place . . . which is a courtyard on top of the mansion. Here, you can see everyone down in the courtyard, and there are speakers for you to be able to hear what they're talking about from this distance.

The rooftop courtyard is pretty expansive, similar to the gardens below—one side is a garden maze where you can find places to rest or food to eat (it's probably safe to eat, it all looks fresh), and the other side is a wall of LCD screens, fourteen in total, so you can witness what happens in whatever rooms. There are also couches available for you

Between the garden maze and the LCD screens is a trapdoor that cannot be opened without certain authorization via QR code.

The rules on your phone have updated. If you're a chosen candidate, you'll find your name on the list provided. You'll be able to go through the trapdoor with the QR code your phone provides you. If you are signed up, even if you try to stay away, you will find yourself going to the trapdoor at the appointed time.

Your powers are on, and you'll find whatever weapons you were carrying before to be available to you. However, you cannot escape from the rooftop no matter how hard you try, and you cannot destroy any of the rooftop. It just seems to be indestructible. ]

I am part of the YOU-kai unit. I seem to have missed the most critical part of this... game, however.

[ he also... is not very social and a terrible conversationalist. ]

[ 'Not very social and a terrible conversationalist' is at least some of the people he knows, at least. ]

The 'trying to argue your case' part?

... I'm not sure if there was much that could be done to defend yourselves, in the end.

I would not have assisted to argue our case. From what I understand, we were indeed guilty.

The verdict was as it should be.

Even though it was an accident?

There is a saying that you should never pick up a weapon unless you are ready to die. Accident it may be, if we were not willing to accept the responsibility of the killing and being found out, we should have gone in unarmed.

I am unfamiliar overall with how the games here work... but by participating we have accepted that we may die or kill another unit in order to 'play.'

[ a pause. ] Tell me how you view this matter, as 'an accident.' Does it mean the killer should be void of the responsibility that they took a life?

I call it 'an accident', because -- to begin with, I made plans with You-kai to meet on the first night precisely because they wanted to limit the risk of dying themselves. I was told many of this unit were uncomfortable with being unarmed, so we agreed to meet wielding the same weapons so that we would only be injured.

But we didn't know a third unit had chosen the room we were to meet in. It was the luck of the draw that you guys got stuck in the same room as them, while I ended up in an empty room instead. The other unit had the 'weaker' weapon, and...well, that's how it turned out.

... I know that it being unintentional doesn't excuse what happened, nor does it mean you shouldn't be held responsible, it's just -- [ He bites his lower lip. ] Frustrating to know that you guys got 'executed' for something that you hadn't intended to do, at least in that instance.

I understand your feelings better now.

Haha, uhm, that said ... I must admit that I'm biased, 'cause there's someone important to me on You-kai.

That is understandable. I believe you are not alone in terms of how other units seem to be handling things.

[ aka there's nothing wrong with that ]
