It is, in fact, regular Levity meats! As much as this is all A Metaphor, the corpse does represent Levity on the physical level, which means it's... well. Levity. Have fun voring parts of him you wouldn't usually get to eat irl?
Another nod! Birdity busies himself delicately opening up the corpse, following the lines of the ribcage. It's all fiddly work that leaves his arms and hands completely bloodied, but he manages! One sufficiently carved up corpse, here you go.
he'll chomp down on that heart in the meantime -- though it's not a quick affair, like he's just trying to gobble it down. this is a rare opportunity! (*barring dreams in which Levity may in fact let him eat his heart

This is some REAL romance right here, nevermind that Luci also got to eat the heart. That's probably some kind of incest at that point if you both eat the same guy's heart? Anyway.
It seems that the heart isn't merely the literal organ; as you eat, your thoughts turn to Levity... or perhaps you are witnessing his. It's not so blatantly defined, but you get a feeling of what it's like to be him - a glimpse of his hopes, worries, his great care for others, desire for a better world, his struggles with the way things are in Imeeji, but also resolve not to just bend down to the weight of it all.
All in all, it's quite a lot more comfortable an existence than being Absinthe!
it's not that he thinks Levity is gross per se. but feeling that care, those worries, those hopes first-hand -- it's almost an instinctual revulsion, a fear, and his teeth pause mid-bite on his meal as he makes something of a face at the conflict, ]
Buddy you literally signed up to eat the metaphorical but also literal representation of Levity. Did you really expect his personality and everything to be left out of the experience.
Birdity seems to think for a bit, then smiles, briefly stroking the side of the corpse's face (the not-cut up one).
You get a Disappointed Look. :/ !!! Or, well... perhaps not so disappointed - this is something that could be expected of Absinthe, and aligns with what Alexander had warned him about, but... still. Looks like Birdity was hoping for something else.
"he trusts... you for help."
Edited (decided to add stuff after all) 2021-06-03 04:28 (UTC)
Birdity looks relieved and grateful! But that's true, it's kind of a concern it would take some time to eat an entire person. Luci barely managed three organs before basically keeling over. Birdity looks from Absinthe to corpse to back to Absinthe thoughtfully.
"there is... a quicker way. but more... intense. don't know if you can handle..."
Birdity regards him for a few moments, then nods, reaching into Levity's abdomen with one hand and placing another on Absinthe's arm.
"conduit," he offers by way of explanation. He concentrates, and then Absinthe will feel what Birdity is feeling right now - first physical sensations, the slight warmth of corpse-Levity's innards under his hand and the fabric of Absinthe's robe under the other hand. There's a sense of background confusion and uncertainty, too, but resignation to it as well. Birdity does not know who he is, but he knows that he's only a piece of something bigger - incomplete, broken and useless. But that is simply how things are.
It lasts for a few moments before the stream of Birdity's consciousness fades away, giving way to Levity's soul, and oh, there is so much more there. First come the more surface worries of his day to day life in Imeeji, but even that is almost all filled and prompted by his care for his friends, loved ones, even strangers he's barely met. For a time, Absinthe will have to experience what it's like to not only care about people, but want to do so, to be utterly ready to sacrifice his own time and effort to help others. Isn't that nice?

If you'll forgive my greed.
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
"not greed. helping."
so like do you want some titty or what's up
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
Deeper, please. I would like to see inside of him.

Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
Absinthe offers another "thanks" in the form of the tip of his head, thanks for the expert bird carving, before reaching in just, snatching that heart

Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
Well. You sure yoinked a heart? It's a heart. It has like, blood on and in it. Enjoy?
Birdity meanwhile is going to get himself some LIVER and chew on that in the meantime.

You could have warned me.
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
"warn?"

"it is him. everything.
don't like don't eat.
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
Can he not simply be quiet and be a part of me, hmm? I rather enjoy his personality when it is separate from my own experiences.
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
"if... he did... he would not stay him. only... who you think he is."
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
[ he'll wipe his hands off on corpse-levity's clothing ]
Thankfully, I am quite full. I must express my gratitude for the meal even with the aftertaste it has left in my mouth.

Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
And is this meant to help him? Taking him into myself entirely?
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
Once again there is a pause of confusion from Birdity. Y... es? You think you were just brought here to have a nice lunch?
"yes. the end comes. he cannot survive. you... can."
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
and look part of him wishes it were just a nice lunch, he doesn't trust himself handling Levity feelings at all. ]
And then what of yourself? Would you enjoy being devoured?
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
"enjoy?"
Birdity sounds puzzled. To him that's a little like being asked if sneezing makes him feel sad.
"i am... only a piece. but, to make whole... even i, am needed."
He looks back at the corpse-Levity.
"he is more important. a... bigger piece. so... if you choose, choose him."
Re: BEGINNING, SECONDS AGO (VORE EDITION)
[ there's a sigh, an acceptance, as he dips his hand back into Levity's chest cavity; ]
I may be here for some time if I must devour all of him.
