Little thing, holding onto hope - brief, pointless, so easily shattered. Against the world, you are nothing, and try though you might, it does not care for your efforts and sacrifices. In the end, darkness remains.
But though you might not shine, you may still cast a glow.
By degrees, almost unnoticeably, the darkness dissipates. Underfoot is no longer the white dust of a long-dead world, but the pavement slabs of Amaurot again. It looks like you've found your way back to the Macarenses Angle?
And the blackness is gone, now; all that remains is the sunset fire to the left and the tower above you - and it seems like this time one of the doors has opened a fraction! The crack that runs across the sky has grown a little more narrow again, too.
On the ground not far from you, something glimmers.
Listen the void is doing its best at being trauma.
The glimmer turns out to be a... crystal! But in Levity's position colour and without any constellations on it. What could it beeeee
As you hold the crystal, something seems to happen to your vision. Faint silvery lines seem to overlay it - no, it looks like everything around you has a new dimension to it, as though lit by inner fire. Perhaps if you could see the movement of the wind and the flow of static electricity, that is what it would look like, streams of feeble colour and light flowing through everything.
rubs his eyes for a second. is this just "how to become an ascian" (cannibalizing your friend is included in "how to become an ascian", see: emet-selch)
squints, taking out the little shard and holding it in the same hand as the crystal to see if anything happens ]
The crystals... Both glow! And now you can see that the shard glows with Levity's position colour as well, with... well, patches of colour that you can't quite describe. The glow is a little brighter as you bring the two together.
[ when he realizes absinthe isn't out yet, he pauses . . .
he could wait. but, that journey of complete solitude—that journey of being so very, very little . . . he doubts many would escape that place. being unable to derive meaning from something as agonizingly lonely as that—
a part of him suspects that absinthe might be trapped in there for some time more. if not forever—for as much as he cannot imagine even his anger and rage could do much in the abyss, fortunately the dream must end at some point (even if it feels timeless until then)—then for a long time.
[ BUT it is not his problem. the longer absinthe is in the abyss (which he has determined is not really going to be super affecting on levity regardless because it is the void and nothing exists in the void) the less time he has to fuck shit up out here.
bye absinthe! lucifel's going to go to the sunset fire. ]
