Not quite. But being able to wield a weapon is a necessary skill if you wish to travel anywhere off the main roads.

What was it like, where you're from?

What is it like? Hmmmm. I would still say my world is a world of god and monsters, and yet still has the capacity for the particularly clever and talented humans to surpass both. Though each country does have adventures and their own form of military and government to protect the people, trouble can still find people. I was fortunate enough to be from a country that has enjoyed peace for the most part many many years.

I'm glad you were from someplace that was mostly pretty chill.

Uh... well, the city I lived right before I came here was a lot like this one. Same landmarks and whatever, even though the tech ain't as good here.

Oh? What kind of tech did you have?

Kinda a step up from this. More holograms, and like... robots, and flight-capable body armor and whatever.

Does that mean your world was also dangerous?

Ah... yeah. It, uh. It was kinda rough around the edges.

Naw, it's cool. It was just... pretty dangerous. Whole lotta the world was pretty messed up.

Some aliens showed up and trashed the place, mostly.
