Nemesis and Hurricane's Ideal World: Session 1

[The sky above is a deep, unnatural crimson, filled with roiling clouds and creatures that are a sickly oil-slick black. They writhe and wriggle like something out of a Lovecraftian nightmare; they have entirely too many eyes, and entirely too many wings, and when they open their mouths, they have entirely too many teeth]
[Below them, the city of Tokyo is half-shattered; above the rooftops, mechanized suits the size of people hover in the air, darting in out of the chaos, laser blasts and explosions and wickedly sharp blades fighting tirelessly against the endless onslaught]
[Until finally, the last creature falls]
[All at once, civilians flood the streets of the city; the lights come on in all the buildings, which somehow have become whole again, safe and unharmed. A cheer goes up from the crowd. Overhead, a stunning fireworks display paints the night with light and color]
[And they all lived happily ever after]
[The end]

Re: THE LAB
Re: THE LAB
I'm always happy to show my work to interested parties. There's nothing I enjoy more than -
[The static is longer, this time. Her voice fades out to something gutteral and strange, glitching around the edges. The outline of her glitches, too, juddery shapes stark against the clean white lines of the lab]
Re: THE LAB
[She was so dismissive. He's not surprised this is causing issues.]
Lead the way.
Re: THE LAB
[The closer she gets, the more she seems to glitch around the edges. By the time you reach the work bench, she has stopped moving entirely]
Re: THE LAB
[He continues to the work bench, looking over things and then carefully picks up the mechanical bird.]
Do you like birds?
Re: THE LAB
[She doesn't seem to have a reply to that]
[Perhaps she doesn't know what to say]
[She's looking at you like she's not entirely sure why you're here. Perhaps she's remembered better things she could be doing, instead of talking to you]
[The edges of her outline glitch periodically, hints of static showing through, and she turns back to her work]
Re: THE LAB
Re: THE LAB
[Her attention is on what lies before her on the workbench, and only that]
Re: THE LAB
[Safety first.]
[He's looking over the weapons and if they seem functional, he'll take them.]
[And see if he can get the bird to work.]
Re: THE LAB
[Retractible blades, +2 to damage rolls]
[The bird does indeed seem to work, though even as Rye turns his attention to it, the lights in the lab continue to dim. Hurricane's mother is glitching quite badly now]
Re: THE LAB
You never gave him a lot of attention, did you?
Did you even care, when he was desperately searching the city for food? What were you doing that whole time?
Re: THE LAB
[As for Hurricane's mother, she says nothing at all]
[Her mouth moves, but all that comes out is static; the lights in the room have all but faded, leaving the room almost in pitch dark]
Re: THE LAB
[He's gonna pick up tools and any parts he think might make the bird work.]
It was the thing I always wondered when I saw those memories of Hurricane. Where were you, did you even know he was in danger?
Re: THE LAB
[The phone doesn't seem to make any difference at all]
[At last every light in the lab shuts out at once, leaving the room pitch black. Something shoves you, hard, and when the light reappears, you find yourself back in the genkan]
