Great black stags chased her, and their eyes shone blue.
Monsters scrambled after her through the bush, though they found her not.
Stumbling on a log, she fell and thought to surrender, and end the torment of the hunt—

You're so, so tired.

Oh—I would have thought you'd be busier, since it definitely sounded like that from the outside, after all.

He sighs -- is it in relief? Possibly.

"...So you've noticed."

Well—I guess, if I'm anything, it's pretty perceptive.

So—wait, if you know, then you know something's wrong here.

He moves to set aside the practice swords on a rack.

"We all do, actually. I can only assume it's a compromise of some kind, given how Lark normally is. It's just that we lack the power to convince him ourselves."

Hm. That's pretty self-aware.

Honestly, I feel like if he had time, he seems like the kind of person who'd sort himself out, but...

...well, it's a little cynical to create an ideal world and fill it with so few people, isn't it.

[ she doesn't sound judgmental, there, just like. matter-of-fact. ]

"You're not wrong. I would say that he's...tired, and that's how it came to this situation. Tired of being responsible and mature, and worried about sharing his burdens when the people he trusts are dealing with their own concerns. Everything starts to feel unbearable, at that point."

So, it's a place that only has the people he lets close to his own burdens in it. But it means that the rest of the world is just... facade. Too empty.

...I think I understand it.

"You could say that he misses us as well. The real people who we're based on, that is."

There's an attempt at a small smile. "But I can only be glad if more people understand him, even if only a little."

...so, it's a little bit play-pretend. It's natural, but—I guess it's not like this place is going to be nice about dropping rude awakenings on people.

Do you think it'd convince him, if he was reminded that the real "you" isn't really here? If you're someone he really cares about.

[ Shush I went to bed after that!!! ]

"That is one way to do it. On top of that, it would be...better to remind him of what the real 'me' wants for us."

His gaze trails down to a ring on his finger.

"Can I trust you to try to wake him?"

I'll take it seriously.

...I promise.

He pauses to slide the ring on his finger off, then holds it out to you.

"Then...please, pass this to him. This is proof of the promise I made to him, even if our circumstances aren't quite so simple."

Ah...

...all right. I'll make sure it gets to him.
