Nemesis and Hurricane's Ideal World: Session 2

[The sky above is a deep, unnatural crimson, filled with roiling clouds and creatures that are a sickly oil-slick black. They writhe and wriggle like something out of a Lovecraftian nightmare; they have entirely too many eyes, and entirely too many wings, and when they open their mouths, they have entirely too many teeth]
[Below them, the city of Tokyo is half-shattered; above the rooftops, mechanized suits the size of people hover in the air, darting in out of the chaos, laser blasts and explosions and wickedly sharp blades fighting tirelessly against the endless onslaught]
[Until finally, the last creature falls]
[All at once, civilians flood the streets of the city; the lights come on in all the buildings, which somehow have become whole again, safe and unharmed. A cheer goes up from the crowd. Overhead, a stunning fireworks display paints the night with light and color]
[And they all lived happily ever after]
[The end]

Good afternoon.

[She puts the gadget on, like a gauntlet - lifts her arm and shoots a laser that comes with a close-range shockwave]
It still needs adjustments, but it's coming along nicely.

Who are the Harbingers,
and how can you be. so. sure.
Nothing ever ends. You can't kill them all.
[ sets a hand on her desk and leans in impossibly closer, getting right up in her space. ] Very what, brave?

And yes, my son is very br -
[Another hitch, as though a badly spliced-together tape. The words dissolve under a burst of white noise]

[You get a force blaster, +2 to damage rolls]
You're wrong.
It isn't like that. After all, I lo -
[The static is longer, this time. Her voice fades out to something gutteral and strange, glitching around the edges. The outline of her glitches, too, juddery shapes stark against the clean white lines of the lab]
Re: THE LAB
You don't love him.
You don't think him brave.
You're just a miserable woman looking to harp on a kid that just wants to do his fucken best.
[ EQUIPPING HIS TOY. ] I feel sorry for you... [ and he's just going to turn to leave, and also take his drawer with him. HMPH. ]
[ back to the kitchen since zhongli never followed him. ]
Re: THE LAB
[She doesn't seem to have a reply to that]
[Perhaps she doesn't know what to say. Or perhaps someone else, asleep somewhere else, cannot possibly imagine what she would say]
[When he gets back to the kitchen again, it looks a little different]
[Zhongli is nowhere to be seen]
