Nemesis and Hurricane's Ideal World: Session 2

[The sky above is a deep, unnatural crimson, filled with roiling clouds and creatures that are a sickly oil-slick black. They writhe and wriggle like something out of a Lovecraftian nightmare; they have entirely too many eyes, and entirely too many wings, and when they open their mouths, they have entirely too many teeth]

[Below them, the city of Tokyo is half-shattered; above the rooftops, mechanized suits the size of people hover in the air, darting in out of the chaos, laser blasts and explosions and wickedly sharp blades fighting tirelessly against the endless onslaught]

[Until finally, the last creature falls]

[All at once, civilians flood the streets of the city; the lights come on in all the buildings, which somehow have become whole again, safe and unharmed. A cheer goes up from the crowd. Overhead, a stunning fireworks display paints the night with light and color]

[And they all lived happily ever after]

[The end]

[ Oh yes lovely, but she takes zero (0) time to look at anything, heading right to Nemesis and Hurricane. Probably she has a better chance with Nemesis, so starting there. ]

Here I am, as promised. So, I owe you a dance? [ Nothing like prolonged contact to flex her persuasion skills. ]

Smooth moves, Cassanova. I'll leave you to it.

[Gives her a little bow and steps aside so she can whisk Nemesis away]

[ Normally she'd ask him to stick around and have a pointed chat but there are others here who know Hurricane better. (She has priorities okay, she likes them both but one is the clear winner.) ]

[Going to wander over to grab some mini hotdogs and chat with other folks while you guys do the romance thing, then]

[Had been putting the finishing touches on some decorations but drops it to smile, genuine]

Sure do. If you don't mind, anyways.

Mind, are you kidding? I've been waiting all day. C'mon. [ Holds a hand out and gives her a face which is Super Hard To Say No To. ]

[Gosh, why would she say no? She takes her hand easily, smiling]

It's nice out here, ain't it?

[ Wonderful! Tugging her toward any area open enough for dancing, but she doesn't care that much where. Point is, get close, get her talking. ]

It is. I was hoping you'd tell me about it. I can't remember how I got here, but it's nice.

[It isn't really the sort of music for dancing close, but that's no reason not to dance close,]

[Anyway, she brightens at the question]

Well, this's our place. Me and Cross fixed everything, so we retired out here. Nobody bothers us, and we don't gotta kill nothing or get beat up or die or see nobody else have that stuff happen to 'em neither. That's worth a party, ain't it?

[ Close it is; really more just touching and swaying than dancing, leaning close, her hand stroking Nemesis's hair. ]

Very worth it. [ God she feels sick, she's not above being manipulative for a good cause but it's not something she'd do if given a better option. ]

It seems like the guy in the church doesn't fit in with the atmosphere though. He said some upsetting things. [ Bless everyone for the text chain info to use here. She keeps her voice low and calming, holding Nemesis close, just hoping to reveal some cracks in the paradise veneer. ]

[She leans into the touch without hesitation, blushing faintly but minimally self-conscious for once. At least, until Alizarin's next statement]

...What guy in what church?

[ Not missing a beat in her dance-swaying, but looking in Nemesis's eyes, her smile soft and sad. ]

Over in the woods. It looked pretty ruined, and there was some older man yelling about a lamb, and harbingers. [ She doesn't have to try very hard to look upset here. ] It made me worried.

[The confusion changes flavor, from blank to something more like disbelief, or faint alarm]

That can't-- That don't belong here.

[She frowns, taking a breath]

...Don't tell Cross--Hurricane, okay? I'll take care of it.

[Another breath, and she works her expression more into place]

Sorry about that. You--you don't gotta worry about that.

[ Drawing a slow breath; it's working, and she hates herself for it. ]

I'd worry about anything that upset you. [ Stretching up to kiss the corner of her mouth if Nemesis will allow it, something between comfort and apology. ]

That's why I didn't think he belonged -- this is supposed to be your perfect place, isn't it?

Yeah... And that guy don't belong--that guy don't exist no more.

[She doesn't pull away, but doesn't look particularly comforted--though she does attempt to smooth out her expression]

But--okay. Thanks for the heads-up. I ain't gonna let that fucko ruin this...

It's not just him, Nemesis. The graveyard, the hospital in the barn, the dungeon under the statue -- none of that should be here.

[ And now doing a terrible job of holding herself together, because she's just so furious and sad and ] I just got you back from being some grey ghost -- I know it feels like you never want to leave here, but some part of you knows this isn't right. And if it was right, I'd never try to take you away from it, you must know that.

What--

[She frowns, but there are better priorities, and she moves her arms to pull Alizarin closer]

...Hey. It's okay--you don't gotta freak out. We'll figure this out, okay?

[ Is gladly pulled closer, matter of fact she's clinging more than a little. ]

You don't believe me. [ Trying hard not to cry here, it won't help anything. ] I'm not sure I'd believe it either. But I just don't want to lose you in here.

[Strokes through her hair, confused but careful]

Look--nobody's getting lost noplace. You wouldn't be here if I didn't wanna see you--if you didn't belong here, okay?

[But also something is happening]
