Persephone's ideal world session 1

In the flicker of a candle-flame, in the stir of still water, in the fluttering of flower petals, there is a voice.

Once, there was a maiden...
...who was the living embodiment of everything right in the world.
While she lived, no real harm could come to anyone. Oh, wounds, disease, even death, sure. But she stood between the world and anything worse.
"Except," she said, "I'm going to die." And no one listened.
"I'm going to die tomorrow," she said. And no one heard.
Into the silence, she said: "There's always an ending, after all."

[ .......aw shit here we go again.

She checks for her weapon immediately (because of course she does); can't even bring herself to be mad when she finds it exchanged a sheaf of rice.

—And then she approaches the youth immediately. ]

Please say that my son is not dreaming the very same dream as before.

[Imagine more youthful icons, but he looks around and especially up at the sky for a few long moments.

And then he approaches the slightly bothered youth.]

[Valor is here, studying the poem on his phone. He's de-aged to a skinny seventeen-year-old, but he's changed in other ways, too. He's missing the perpetual sallow, sickly complexion he had, as well as the red streaks in his hair, and his eyes are brown instead of crimson.]

...Well, shit, someone from back home. I should shake down Lark for a fucking list some time.

No fucking clue.

[even at the physical age of sixteen instead of mid-thirties and with his voice much higher, still settling instead of its adult pitch, the youth is still recognizable as Kirsi.]

Uh, I don't think it's the exact same dream, though I'm not sure. I'm here now, which makes it...different?

[ They probably last saw each other at Cardinal's graduation—at which occasion Amaranth had tried but failed not to cry.

She offers Emet a nod of greeting. ]

And so we find ourselves in my son's dream garden again.
The form of a youth sits well on you, though I suppose it confirms that at least one of his fears remains unchanged.

...Kirsi, isn't it?
I'm a little surprised that even you he can't quite trust at your true age.

Still, if you'll share what knowledge you have of this place, I'd be grateful. I have more than half a mind to try to reach the bottom of that pond this time.

He barely remembers the real me, so it's not really a surprise.

Well, I'm not sure that's a good idea but I definitely can't stop you if that's what you want to do. But the same trick you used to break his dream last time probably won't work so well this time.
