Welcome to the Rite of Descension. Every year, the Geo Archon graces the people of Liyue with their presence, offering words of wisdom and blessing for the coming year. How fortunate it was for you to arrive on this exact day.

Within Yujing Terrance, there are two places to go and one interaction point:

The Mileleth: Security seems pretty tight around here. It never hurts to put in a good word for yourself. Probably.

The Censer: It's a device used to burn incense. While you do not physically see Zhongli, his presence lingers around here specifically more than any other location.

Offerings to the Geo Archon: If at any point, you wish to make an offering to the Geo Archon, you may do so here. It is customary for everyone to offer a suitable gift or prayer.

You might also catch some familiar faces among the crowd - two people talking quietly off toward the side (Skylark and Valor) and a horse-dragon (Pentium) watching the growing pile of offerings with interest.

You may also travel to: the docks, the marketplace, or the mountains in the distance.

[ childe shouldn't be surprised that this place isn't the least bit threatening... so, ok, if another offering is required he'll set down the soup to go he got from xiangling. hopefully that's enough. ]

Not been having the best time? [ hums, thoughtful, in regard to the offerings... ] How about once we finish this we take a tour of the harbor. I'm sure Xiansheng would love that. I'm sure I can even get us a table at the Liyue Pavilion.

I ran into a bit of trouble.

[ The trouble is himself. ]

But I am not one to give up. That is not in my blood.

[ . . . ]

I will give credit where it is due. otherwise, it wouldn't be fair of me. I would say you have done a splendid job so far. When we are done, I would be glad to look around and visit with you there. I realize this is not real. Not in the physical sense, but am a little fascinated with the world and its history.

[ childe laughs. ] You'll have to tell me about all the trouble you got into in my absence. I would say we should have stuck together, but I think it best I took care of my... errands... alone.

It might not be real in a sense that Zhongli has altered a number of things to fit how he wishes the world to be, but Liyue itself is still mostly in tact. And I'm sure he'd love to talk your ear off about it.

[ Maybe he can not tell him about the trouble he had since most of it was self-inflicted. He can just.... brush by that all casually. ]

. . . I would ask, but considering you have taken care of so much on your own, I have a bit of an idea of what you may have been subjected to.

[ If Zhongli is alright after all of this, and in a good enough headspace, he hopes they can do something nice for him. To make up for destroying what would have otherwise been an ideal world. ]

From the skies, a woman descends, almost too radiant to look at head on. In fact, though you are clearly looking directly at her, she seems indistinct. Hazy. Like a dream or a memory that has faded around the edges. Of what you can make out, she is garbed in whites and indigo, glaze lilies tucked up in her hair, and walks the line of elegance and mischievousness.

The Lord of Geo Guizhong smiles - soft but ultimately sad as she holds out her arms to you in a welcoming gesture.

"Greetings, Traveler. I am Guizhong, Rex Lapis, Lord of Geo and God of Dust. Welcome to my Rite of Descension. Would you like to receive my blessing for another year?"

[ With your previous ELM rolls, Guizhong lights up like New Years fireworks. ]

[ this is wrong. it's all sorts of wrong. childe feels uncomfortable, but tries to hide it as he folds his arms and stares at her. ]

[ elm 8. are we really going to have to kill guizhong? ]

[ If giant red arrows could be pointed to the source of the erosion, this would be it. ]

She smiles warmly at him.

"Master Childe. I'm glad you could make it again this year."

And she laughs behind her hand.

"But we already know that you have my blessing."

At some point, ideal world!Childe got the shovel talk.

[ childe had a (sinking) feeling. ]

[ nudges tsukasa and motions up at her. ] It's the Geo Archon. [ said as if he's explaining things, but another swift nudge means to imply that's their target. ]

[ but if he doesn't take the hint, then childe summoning a hydro bow to fire a charged arrow at her should SAY PLENTY. elm5. ]

[ He knows. But he was truly hoping that perhaps they could... talk her into complying with what they need instead. This twists his stomach. The only weapon that comes natural to him is a bow. He's been trained in how to use one since he was a young child.

. . . Though he hasn't touched one since the hunger games. He swallows, summoning his own bow up. ELM5.

He just needs to tell himself that this person isn't real, and perhaps that will make it easier. ]

[ The two arrows strike sure and true, one in her shoulder and another in her abdomen.

She places a hand to her mouth so the blood she coughs up does not stain the front of her robes. ]

Ah, you have done so well this far. You have my thanks.

But also my plea to endure a little longer for his sake.

[ While Guizhong does not retaliate, it appears the world around her does on her behalf. Make a stat roll (STR/SPD/ELM) to dodge an earth spear skewering you from the sky. 6+ succeeds. ]

[ childe raises his bow a second time, but doesn't have time to fire off a shot as, instead, he's got to avoid getting skewered. he tries to evade the earthen spike that surges down in retaliation, but he's not quick enough and it strikes him... or it would if not for the jade shield zhongli had put on him earlier. the shield takes the full force of the attack and bursts as a result. spd 4.]

I think I got a little bit more in me. [ childe staggers back and summons a hydro polearm, hurling it directly at her... but missing entirely. elm3. he takes a knee, CLEARLY STILL REELING FROM ALMOST DYING. ]

[ He isn't sure if he likes that she isn't physically fighting back on her own. Perhaps it gives them a better chance, but it feels as though they are attempting to kill an innocent even if the world is attacking them for the treachery of attacking such an important being.

Fortunately, he sees the speer, dodging with ELM8. Rolling to the side, he lifts the bow smoothly up once more, pulling the arrow back to attack with an ELM6, attempting to aim for her heart. He wants to finish it as painlessly as possible for her.]
