[The sky above is a deep, unnatural crimson, filled with roiling clouds and creatures that are a sickly oil-slick black. They writhe and wriggle like something out of a Lovecraftian nightmare; they have entirely too many eyes, and entirely too many wings, and when they open their mouths, they have entirely too many teeth]

[Below them, the city of Tokyo is half-shattered; above the rooftops, mechanized suits the size of people hover in the air, darting in out of the chaos, laser blasts and explosions and wickedly sharp blades fighting tirelessly against the endless onslaught]

[Until finally, the last creature falls]

[All at once, civilians flood the streets of the city; the lights come on in all the buildings, which somehow have become whole again, safe and unharmed. A cheer goes up from the crowd. Overhead, a stunning fireworks display paints the night with light and color]

[And they all lived happily ever after]

[The end]

[Not far from the main house is a long, low building with dogs and chickens and a few young children chasing each other around in front. Songbirds flit in the eaves, while a flock of crows perch on the roof, cawing jovially at passers-by.]

[Looking around more closely, you may notice that many of the animals and children are living with scars or burns or missing limbs, not that it slows their play any. Regardless, it feels like perhaps those assembled here had nowhere else to go.]

[It feels like perhaps they could belong here, if no place else–like perhaps you could, as well.]

[From here, you can RETURN TO THE HOUSE, or GO INSIDE THE BARN(?)]

[ ...Ah.
It's serene, and familiar in a way that is extraordinarily welcome after the vision of that unnatural war.

She'd still like to talk to the children, if they haven't scattered.
Otherwise, she's go inside the barn. ]

[One little girl is nearby still, as though ~~waiting to be caught so she can be it~~ eager to meet the new arrival]

[The others cluster around the barn, peering out and giggling]

[ Obligingly, she makes her hands into mock-claws. ]

I'm a scary-scary raksha who eats little children... just... like...
[ doing a quick little "got you" grab ] ...you!

[ —and of course releasing her immediately ]

Did I do alright? I'm just guessing at the rules.

[She squeals laughter, twisting to get away]

Uh huh, uh huh, but if you're gonna play for real, you gotta know that home base is safe.

[Pointing a chubby finger over toward the barn]

Ohhh. [ a sage nod, as if this is impressive wisdom ]

That makes sense. Is that where everyone else is right now?

That's where everyone goes when they gotta stay for a long time, but if you just touch it, it's okay.

I'm Chloe, but you can call my Lolo if you wanna. The little kids call me that, they can't do the "cl" sound so good yet.

I'm actually very new here, you know! So I was hoping to find someone very clever to tell me about this place. I used to be fighting a war, but now I'm a farmer, so it seems like I might have a lot in common with everyone here.

[ doing a "walk and talk" in the direction of the barn, also ]

[Chloe has a little trouble keeping up; she walks with a limp, and she's missing her left hand from the wrist, though they're old injuries, long healed]

Oh, so you got a house with a field and stuff, when all the fighting stopped?

[ baby :(
Amaranth adjusts her own walk, letting Chloe set the pace. ]

I did, I did.
Sometimes I still help out training the local guard, but I won't let anyone make me part of their army again.

For us, the fighting stopped because I led us to victory against the other army that was trying to take away our homes. How did the fighting stop here?

Didn't you hear? The heroes saved the day.

Then when it was all over, they said we could stay here, cause a lot of us didn't have nowhere else to go.

By "heroes," do you mean Nemesis and Hurricane?

Nova and Sandstorm and Steelshot and Sentinel and everyone! I've got their figures and everything, they're so cool!

They're probably getting ready for the party.
