The restaurant people have been really weird about 'brown coats' and all sell the same dish, just with individual spins.

They gotta be changing out dishes regularly somehow.

...So they're hoping to figure out what I'm cooking?

[Though they don't seem too concerned by that, continuing to cook as they usually do:

by dousing the meat in WAY too many spices. Especially since this kitchen is especially well-equipped.]

Which, good on them. Their food would have a far more varied audience then the usual stuff.

[He hasn't figured out Kino's good food for him is actually Terrible for humans.]

Did you find the food bad?

Didn't eat it, but the smell wasn't very appetizing.

Is it because of the difference in tastes?

[Though their food probably smells... comparatively better, by virtue of rapidly becoming a disaster.

Hermes is making distressed noises in the background.]

Maybe a bit, but it all does seem really bland. About the only thing that looks any good was the steaks and that was basic.

[Because never fully cook a steak.]

Yours, meanwhile, always smells good.

...It definitely sounds like a difference in tastes thing.

[Some of the audience members are sympathy sweating at the number of chilis going into the dish, but they're Determined to take notes on this recipe.]

Still, if they've all been eating the same thing, anything would probably be a great change of pace.

[Which, honestly, with all those peppers should make it an absolute nightmare on the eyes.]

Smells great.

They nodded with satisfaction. They turned off the flames of the stove.

“It’s done.”

“Oh!” “It’s finished!” “Finally!”

“Traveler, what is the name of this dish?”

“Huh? A name? It doesn’t have one. I only invented it today.”

“I see! So it was on instinct!”

“Eh? Well yeah, I guess.”

“As expected!” “That was a daring choice of ingredients!” “And with no hesitation at all!”

There was the sound of a film roll coming to an end. It seems your character is no longer an audience member, but a part of the story itself - which means it’s time to test taste the dish the other cooks are currently cooing over.

[Kino seems pretty happy with the results, even if the majority of the people there seem to be struggling with the meal. But before he can take the final bite...
