Kino and Hermes passed the gates as soon as they finished the entry procedures.
Before the gates was an elliptical plaza. Just a bit ways off was a row of wooden, one-storey houses crowded together. Every single one was elevated, with stout, wooden pillars that pierced the ground. The narrow road was entirely paved, a step higher than the ground itself.
There were several men in the park. They approached with smiles, perhaps in anticipation of Kino and Hermes.
“Good afternoon, traveler. Welcome to our country. I am the person who was given charge of this country’s affairs.”
Kino took off their hat and gave a slight bow to the middle-aged man who introduced himself as the chief.
“Good afternoon. I am Kino, and this is my partner, Hermes.”
“It’s really wonderful of you to come. You are the first guest we’ve had in five years. There’s no hotel in our country, so we’ll have to accommodate you in our country’s reception hall. Of course, we won’t ask for payment of any sort. You deserve no less, being our country’s guest.”
The chief then bowed deeply, and the other men followed suit.
Hermes voiced out a whistle. “Isn’t that great, Kino? It’s the first time you get to be treated like this. It’s a good thing we chose this road – just how many times did we think of turning back? That road was so horrible; you couldn’t blame anyone thinking that the country ahead’s inhabi––”
Kino kicked Hermes in the middle of his dialogue, and bowed to the chief and his followers. “That’s really kind of you. We’re very grateful.”
There was the sound of a film roll coming to an end. And so, your character finds themself in the reception hall - a larger version of the stilt houses they saw earlier. Judging by the chief’s words as he guides Kino and Hermes inside, the building is typically used for harvest festivals, concerts, and elections.
It seems your character is no longer an audience member, but a part of the story itself. They may explore as they wish.
well. what's. what's in the room apart from the people? she's just going to hang back and get her bearings and mull over what Hermes could have meant about the road. ]
[There's some large plaques detailing the history of the country, which mostly amounts to which years yielded more crop than others, and the chief who led the country at the time of those yields. There's also wide windows she can peer out at the country through.
Meanwhile, the chief seems to be ushering Kino into a seat and talking animatedly about the history of the country which, as can be guessed by the plaques, almost exclusively deals with agriculture.]
[ cool. she's going to half-listen in case anything unusual comes up, and look out the windows to see what if there's any people outside, and what they're like. ]
[It is, in fact, an incredibly boring discussion of agriculture. Kino's settled down with tea with the polite but faraway look of someone who is engaged just enough for the self-absorbed speaker to feel they are in fact being listened to. Something something statues in the road of great chiefs in the past, something something, wants to get his own statue someday, etc. etc.
Outside, the few residents of the country in the area greet each other, friendly in the streets.]
she feels like she understands what's going on in here, so maybe she's going to see if she can go outside to observe people and maybe approach them after a bit. ]
"I’m Nimya, Nimya Tchuhachkova. Nice to meet you. I need to talk to the chief right now, but come visit me later, would you? I spend most of my time in that warehouse at the end of the road."
[She nods in the direction, though given it's a single straight road, even if the warehouse can't be seen from this vantage point there's little worry of getting lost.]
Oh! That's very kind of you. I think the chief's just greeting someone else, but it seems to be largely formalities, so I don't think you're interrupting.
Is there anything else I should be sure and visit, here?
[She does pause, splaying a hand over her mouth in surprise.]
"Oh... Right, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. It's just... it feels like there's more to the world than just farming, farming, farming, you know? So I just need to convince the chief of that."
She walks in to announce that she has a request only for the chief to immediately yell ABSOLUTELY NOT, causing an argument between the two concerning something about "just two would do!" and "Even if it's only one, I won't allow it! What do you take our great leaders for?!" and "Didn't you want to be merited for great achievements? I can help you get a bronze statue for yourself, Chief."
Kino sips their tea and watches passively as some of the chief's men grab her by the arms and begin hauling her out. This all seems very much like it's played out many times before.]

...well, I read all the plaques in the reception hall. I think there's room to expand since it seems like the farming part's pretty nailed down.

the statues for materials or something. it does seem like they do not have a huge amount of non-agricultural materials ]
...well that was fast.
Re: “Land of Wizards” ─Potentials of Magic─
"Remember: warehouse at the end of the road!"
[And off she goes! ...Only for Kino to follow her out not much longer, pushing Hermes along.]
