SPY GAME - pep!pep!

[Oh... is this... is this a coat closet?]

[Either way, the room seems completely soundproof... This is probably a place where you can talk without being overheard.]

[For some reason, only people from your team can come in here. Little do you know, anyone else who tries to enter simply winds up in their own team's instance of the same coat closet.]

[In the middle of the room is a narrow marble pedestal. On it lays a pen, a paper, and an envelope to seal it in when you're done submitting your answers.]

True—maybe we should split up which ones we're working with.

I was thinking it might also help to pick some other words to use consistently, to try and throw other units off...

Seems a bit weird to have us sit in a coat closet though...

It is a little weird as a place to meet, but at least we can all mostly fit in here.

We would have had a harder time fitting if we still had Gladio on the unit...

[Chuckling to herself-]

So, what are your thoughts? Should we try and just... ask people questions?

Oh! I like that strategy, actually. That's really smart. I'm sure we won't be the only ones trying it so we'll know what to look for.

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] identitypolitics 2022-02-20 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hm... well, asking people about what they've been doing or their opinions on something going on goes pretty far toward keeping a conversation going.

If you can work the words into a sentence where they sound natural, it'll be a lot harder for others to pick up, too. So talking about "ironing something out" or "iron will," for example.
thisismagrave: (Maybe we could)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] thisismagrave 2022-02-20 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods.] That I think I can do. Putting words in. Its more the....trying to control a conversation without it being intimidation.
identitypolitics: (261)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] identitypolitics 2022-02-20 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Right, yeah. It's definitely something that comes with practice, for a lot of people, so don't worry too much about it—try asking them about something adjacent to the way you want to work the word in. You can lead people gently toward a topic by asking questions about their thoughts and feelings.
thisismagrave: (Give it thought)

Re: Discussion

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] identitypolitics 2022-02-20 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
You've got good attention to detail, so if you just pay attention to what other people are interested in a little bit, you'll be a fine conversationalist.

And anyway, there's plenty of us to work together and the stakes are low, so don't stress too much.

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] identitypolitics 2022-02-20 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I think we can do better than that.

I was going to try and convince some other units that we have some different code pairs than we actually do—just slip a few unusual words into what I'm saying regularly.

Re: Discussion
